PLEASE READ!!!!!!! When buying batteries from Advance Auto Parts, check the warranty period VERY CAREFULLY! They give you a useless, bogus, warranty. They warranty batteries for 90 days with NO PRORATED period. So, if you spend 79.99 on a battery like I did, and it goes bad 9 months later, you are S.O.L. They dont care, all they offer to do is sell you another $80 POS. They dont care about the public like they say, all they care about is putting the mighty dollar in their pocket while screwing the public. Well, they got their last mighty dollar from me. With any luck, they will get what is coming to them in this economy.......BANKRUPTCY!

There are a couple of questions I have for you. First, did you buy a motorcycle battery that you have to put the acid in yourself? If so, then they only come with a 90 day warranty and no implied prorate. You also have to make sure they are charged first before just using them. If it was a car battery, then they should of covered the warranty, unless you bought an economy battery that wasn't fit for you car, then again there would be no implied warranty involved. Also, where was this store located? Did you try another store? Have you tried talking directly to the General Store Manager or Assistant, not one of the AMIT's? If that doesn't get you anywhere, then ask for the number to corporate and they will help you.

I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd clear up your obvious confusion. I work at an Advance Auto Parts here in Alabama.

I'm not sure what battery you purchased. Being that you mentioned a 3 month warranty, I'm guessing it was a small engine battery. Even those are prorated for 12 months. The only batteries that are not prorated are our motorcycle batteries and Optima brand batteries. Other than Optima brand batteries, the shortest warranty possible to get on an automotive battery is 1 year free replacement/5 year prorated. That's for our CHEAP economy series batteries. As far as our company going bankrupt, I doubt it. We just recorded a 10% company wide comp growth for the last quarter, and business is booming. You were obviously misinformed by the store you visited. There are almost 4,000 stores country wide, so don't judge the entire company on the performance of .025% of its stores, please.

They really don't care, I bought the BS14 Moto-Crapps battery for my cruiser. lasted exactly 9 months. Took it back, and: SORRY SIR, YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. Why US customers have to take this kind of crapps "good for nothing Made From Chomsna" stuffs.
Advance Auto parts or not, I am sure if AA keeps selling these parts, they will go under very soon!

BEWARE Advanced Auto Parts!!!

My wife bought an Autocraft Titanium battery for her Acrua TL in 2006. She bought the battery specifically for the warranty and at the time, she was told that her information was entered in the computer for warranty lookup purposes. This past weekend, the battery went bad and I visited the Advanced Auto Parts store 9571 at 8801 Gunn Highway in Odessa, FL.

The store refused to honor the warranty without the original sales receipt. I did not have it with me, but even so, I've personally experiened in the past that their receipts fade within a year, leaving you with a blank piece of paper. The two representitives at the store (one of whom I believe was a manager) found her information in the computer. However, there was no purchase history other than showing a grand purchase total of ~$123. The manager's explanation was that after two years, purchase history is deleted, though her personal information is retained. Despite it being evident looking at the battery that it was an Autocraft Titanium and it had a sticker of 2/06 on it, making that the earliest date it could have been purchased, they refused to honor the warranty.

Do not do business with Advanced Auto Parts. Even Wal-Mart will go by the sticker on the battery if the receipt can't be found.

I worked for Advance. I can never recall a time when Advance did not stand behind the warranty on their batteries, and this is coming from someone who hates this company with more than a passion.

It is not necessary to have a receipt. They will look your history up in the computer, and if you happened to buy your battery elsewhere, they will contact that store for verification. The store manager was probably just a jerk who didn't want the "exchange/return" to go against his daily sales figures; horrible customer service in itself, and quite typical of some of these tools. FWIW, the receipts do in fact fade into blank pieces of paper over time.

By the way, Advance doesn't like to employ women. Nearly every woman I have ever worked with at Advance has filed a complaint against them for sexual discrimination, or has gotten a hard time from the store managers. Every woman I've worked with at Advance except for two have left in tears.

They are on a mission to cut battery defect rates, especially in the southern climates. So more people will start getting screwed.

I have had that problem as well but i think now they have listened to me roar! I don't take crap from anyone and i deal with all the crap as i have been in shops most of my life.
But you are right on the money there!
I like my job and i am not leaving any time soon. For what they pay,i could walk but i make people smile and i am there for the customers that care about me,and not because i am a woman but because of my personality. I don't know it all but i know enough to help out many people and that feels good. Everyone has their specialties in any Automotive field. It's ever changing and new cars come with More sensors and Emissions, one of the biggies in the business are just that.

I have to say Advance has been one of the top stores that I deal with. They price match & have been very good at getting parts delivered to the store that are not in inventory quickly. But my one huge complaint is the receipt fading after one year or so. Also the policy of taking information off the computer after two years is down right bad business. If you have a warranty on an item after two years & your receipt cannot be read you are out of luck. I filed a complaint to the customer relations department this evening so we'll see where that goes. My next step is the B.B.B. Hope you are reading this Advance.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Sagittarius

You'll feel friendly with everyone you meet today, and you might even be lucky financially. Money should be coming in, but going out rather fast as well... Astral influences will keep you on your toes, and will probably make you flirtatious, but they could also make you moody. This makes it tricky for close relationships to run on an even keel. The truth is, perhaps you don't want too much closeness at the moment. Your partner probably knows that you're often like this, by now, anyway.
