Eh, the "Pink Palace" is what the San Francisco folks disaffectionately refer to as the Holiday Inn Civic Center, conveniently located downtown on skid row.

Our Pink Palace is full of history even if its design seems to beckon back to the dark days of the miserable Monarchy.

I love the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Just don't know what to make of the Royal Hawaiian part.

Oh, well, a monument to the collapse of that relic regime.

Construction was completed in 1901 by the visionary Mr. Peacock. he was a part/ black Anerican businessman. At the time of his project people were skeptical and reported that he was crazy to charge $2.50 per night. This fellow reminds me of Bugsy and Las/Vegas and should be credited for his vision of Waikiki. The illegal takeover of the kingdom happened before this hotel was constructed. It is said that the design and color mirrors a spanish theme. To refer to our monarchy period as dark days of Hawaii is a insult, and shows ignorance of Hawaiian history. Basically Christianity posing as missionaries led to our downfall and American military as their muscle.
