Before it's all said and done there will be only two airlines: 1 legacy carrier and 1 low-cost carrier. And good luck keeping Southwest's interest in HSV. AirTran will be gone from this town before the end of next year.

My husband has flown Airtran twice since it came to Huntsville and was extremely pleased with the service and price. This move by Southwest is exciting.

Hawww, like I said, WN will purchase Air Tran some day and now its here. The last year buyout of F9 was a bad choice and F9 does not operate the same aircraft and DEN still have plenty of open spaces to add to concourse C.

I am surprise that they did not purchase them sooner and bought the stock waitin for last year's anticipation. Air Tran bring in the same fleet with LIVETv on B737-700; ATL, MKE and BWI hub; and caribbean and strengthen the Northeast profitable routes against DAL.

Delta is now in big trouble and have to compete with people admiration of WN and business culture.
ATL to Northeast and Florida is going to be the biggest problem for DAL.

WN have B737NG on order and don't be surprise for 60 or so B737-800 with WN colour.

So what will this mean for Huntsville? It's been nice having direct flights again to Orlando AND on big planes, not these 50-seaters. That has made it easier for my family and I to get seats. I hope Southwest takes a look at that and considers staying and continues with the larger planes and perhaps add some additional flights. It would be nice to have no luggage fees again.

I hope Southwest will keep the flights in Huntsville, I recently flew Air Tran and was disappointed that i actually had to pay for a seat and for luggage. I 've flow Southwest out of Birmingham for years and love their service and NO luggage fees.

I am a retired Flight Attendant of Southwest Airlines and so excited that the best airline in the industry may be coming to Huntsville. Everything you hear about SWA being the FUN LUV family to work for is more than true! I miss it!
I can't wait for my hometown to experience the culture that SWA will bring!

All we need for Southwest to do is provide a connecting flight to Atlanta and you can go anywhere from there. I have flown Southwest more than any other carrier and prefer it. They have always been ontime and most of the time early on all flights that I have had with them. They are a friendly can do airline which I am proud to see might be serving Huntsville soon if all goes well..

Its likely WN will start to connect most of FL destinations with PHX, BWI, DEN, ATL and some to MDW constrain hub. They also have BHM, STL, MSY, MCO and LAS focus cities to consider.
