I find irony in the SW commercials that slam AirTran and their baggage fees. The word from SW today is that the new entity (OK, SW) will stay with "bags fly fee."

Hey. Gang. They are buying slots. They are taking out a competitor. That's it. Nothing more. Airtran's product is history. No biz class. No assigned seats. No hub/connections. No XM. No GoGo. No snacks. No newSkies online reservation system. The work groups don't have the same personality types. Airtran will be GONE, just as TWA was. Sucks so much.

As to you who think that there will now be faster turns at ATL and thusbetter gate utilization, I won't even bother to explain how ignorant that statement is.

I MUST SAY I AGREE WITH THIS AIRLINERS POSTER

Expect AMR to merge with UsAir,Alaska, or some other entity.
Yes agree, but who will get UsAir West(AmericaWest) or JetJew, I mean JetBlue!
Good analysis

AA is 75% more likely to buy JetBlue and merge with Useless Air. The only problem is the cost structure at AA is extremely high and highly unioNAZISM. This hurt AA any future growth and competite wise. Other carriers declare bankruptcy have straighten its cost and balance sheet.

AA would keep the alliance with Alaska Airlines since ASs does not benefit AA for having a hub at SEA an PDX unless they are looking establishing SEA gateway to Asia.

who would want USAir is more the question. Anybody who has flown them thru philly (myself and others) would ask that question seriously. that's nothing against the hard workers of philly itself, but the airport is a dump, and has a tendency of losing bags more often than not. as well, have they ever cleaned up themselves after the first merger?

Here comes the getto airline into Atlanta and Washigton DC. Getto cities of america.

The getto airline will offer the negros of Atlanta and Washington special $39.00 dollars for those who use their welfare checks.

All those negros will be able to travel for negro fares. But be carful, negros will be competing against all those illegal aliens for those cheap fares.

All you rich white people...we United, American, Dlta) have plenty of white seats available for those who have real bank credit cards, no debit cards, no welfare checks.

The next most likely potential merger or acquisition is Jet Blue. Jet Blue have hubs in JFK, BOS, and LGB and with new fleet of A320 and jungle regional jets make them attractive target. Even though USless Air have lower cost structure than AA, I think they end up with US.

I am so sorry for you AirTran folks.
From those of as at TranStar, Morris, ATA.....
Souhtwest does not merge, they acquire assets.
Employees are not considered assets. Unfortunately, AirTran has many that are decidedly ghetto... so for those quality personnel at smaller airlines, dust off your resumes, for there should be many open positions at Southwest as they replace the AirTran staff.
Nice to see the unions checking in this morning....

It must have finally been time for one of their mandatory 'breaks'.

I just giggle when I read the union member comments.

They just can't stand a non-union company making a buck, doing a better job and having happy employees.

I wonder what non-union company you are talking about ... certainly not Southwest. They are one of the most highly unionized airlines in the industry. The difference between Southwest and legacies is not union/non-union, it is smart/not-so-smart.
