We use these flights at least 4 times a year..to get to Fort Lauderdale..now what do we do. There is no flight from Orlando to So. Florida...and who cares about the mouse house. This is awful if it happens because Delta is an awful airline, never on time, and lets sit on the tarmac. I will also mail Airtran.

How disappointing! Airtran is generally the ONLY discounted airline who posts a profit. Every time I fly to Atlanta, the plane is at capacity or within a few seats of it. How many full flights do they honestly think they will have from Moline to Orlando in a week? The only people who will benefit will be those going to Disney World or those who have a specific reason to head to Orlando.

I think the Quad Cities has supported AirTran Airways to the best of its ability, otherwise they wouldnt have stayed here for 12 years. Guess what folks, they might operate a flight to Orlando for a few months, decide the customer base isnt there either, and then they will pull out of Moline all together.

The planes are most always full leaving Moline, I think there must be something else going on behind the scenes. The idea of ONLY flying to Orlando is ridiculous. Why not just eliminate the Moline to Orlando direct flight instead. At least that way you have options of going other places they fly. If you only have Orlando as a choice of a destination, where else can you go from there?

I think the quad cities should start looking for another discount carrier soon like JetBlue or Southwest, because I don't think AirTran will occupy a space at the Quad Cities International Airport for long.

Whatever! You wouldn't catch me flying anymore in those outdated tin cans! Too much b.s. from the airlines with their extra fees for everything and the overcrowded skies/airports = lengthy times crammed in-on the ground. Nope. I got a flying license for a reason. Now I got three partners and we share the expense and always get to go where we want-WHEN we want and no hassles with security and loosing our baggage!

Letter to Christopher White, public relations director for AirTran:

Dear Mr. White,

I am writing to you to voice my disappointment at the decision of AirTran Airways to potentially halt its direct flight from Moline International Airport to your hub in Atlanta. As a travel professional, I have selected AirTran as my airline of choice because of its great service.

I am questioning whether you honestly think having an exclusive route from Moline to Orlando is a viable one? Mr. White, I travel to Atlanta on AirTran at least 3 times a year and the plane from Moline is always full or close to it, so perhaps you could show us numbers to support your claim that the quad cities can no longer support a direct flight to Atlanta. I don't understand your logic in all of this. If you are going to eliminate a flight, why not eliminate the Moline to Orlando direct flight. At least you can get to Orlando from Atlanta. However, you can't connect to ANYPLACE through Orlando because its not a hub. I love flying AirTran, not only because they always have the best price, but the service is second to none of any of the discounted carriers. I have never been on a non-stop flight from Moline to Orlando that was completely full. That's why I think the management of Airtran should rethink this decision and eliminate a flight that doesnt have access to multiple other connections, such as the one from Moline to Orlando.

What I foresee is that you will continue a non-stop flight from Moline to Orlando, decide the ridership isn't there, and use that as an excuse to pull out of Moline all together. You are the only discount carrier to ever post a profit, why is there a need to eliminate such an integral part of travel in and out of the Quad Cities? That will leave us with only the "Big 3" of Delta, American, and United. I hardly ever see a line at any of their ticket counters, however, the AirTran ticket counter is always full.

I would hate to see AirTran pull out of Moline. I think the Quad Cities International Airport would be wise to begin looking for a replacement discounted carrier (i.e. Jetblue, southwest, etc) who will be able to provide FULL SERVICE travel options to its customer base, and not just the ridiculous idea of flying to a single non-hub destination. I do feel you will ultimately pull out of Moline and leave the quad cities without a full service discounted carrier. The Quad Cities and most of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois have been great supporters of your airline, and now you want to take it away from them.

Mr. White, if I were the director of the Quad Cities International Airport, I would tell management officials at AirTran if they were only going to provide access to one city with no major access to other destinations (which is essentially what you are telling us), that they could vacate their space at the Quad City Airport immediately.

Thank you for your time.

I agree, who ever heard of an airline with access to only one city out of which you can't connect to anyplace else? Dumb move on the part of AirTran!

Great idea! It doesn't look like AirTran will survive very long here anyway if thats the only flight they are going to offer us.

Mr. White is a thug. This change in plans is to twist the city's hand into more subsidizing of the AirTran flights. If the bookings are not there, then why not reduce from 3 daily flights to 2? Ticket prices will go up because the legacy carriers will, once again, have their monopoly.

It's a great idea to look for a reputable low cost carrier instead of AirTran. AirTran sways to whatever airport subsidizes their bad management instead of creating loyalty and long-term customers.

I have been flying Airtran exclusively for several years now. I love the A + rewards program & I get several free flights in a year. I noticed a while ago that they were cutting back on their schedule choices out of Moline. Lately I have experienced Algiant and they have a few choices that are better than the Airtran ones. I do not live in the QC so I have to drive at least 90 minutes no matter which airport I choose.

I for one arrange my travel to NOT go through Atlanta if I can, as Orlando is where I usually fly into.(Even if I am traveling elsewhere in Florida...& sometimes I just go there for a day or two before I catch a flight to the west coast) I have to say though, that every Airtran flight I have been on seems almost booked to capacity!(and I fly about 1 time per month)

I say keep the non stop to Florida, but keep 1 flight per day to Atlanta & have Airtran also add a flight to Milwaulkee. It is a great airport & has more choices with less hassel than the Atlanta Airport. This could be a win-win strategy for everyone!(Airtran, travelers & the QCA) It does seem to be foolish for Airtran to not offer a hub destination (like Atlanta or Milwaulkee) for travelers. Perhaps Alegiant has affected them??? As they have budget prices, but are a VERY budget airline.

I enjoy traveling on Airtran & I hope they continue to service the QCA. I fly so often with them, several of the attendants & staff know me by name. However, I almost always travel exclusively on the non-stop, so I am glad they are keeping it (at least for now). This explains why I have been having trouble booking a flight to Los Angeles out of Moline on Airtran! It kept saying the schedules were not available!

Airtran, and QCA officials, please consider adding a flight to Milwaukee, if in fact you cancel the flights to Atlanta!

simply stupid , simply retarded , simply moronic. thats the sign of the times.just like all the idiots that think wearing sunglasses while they drive is ok when they dont need to especially since 80% of all accidents people are wearing sunglasses . i bring this up because those that promote their businesses and services such as sunglass companies and airlines promote theirselves and use not a bit of common sense or judgement. common sense tells you that doing away with the atlanta connection is about as retarded as idiotic people that wear sunglasses while talking on their cell phones and trying to eat and text and the same time.if they want to put orlando over atlanta they are idiots on the lamb.by the way dont drive and wear sunglasses around me because you are as blind as a freaking dead man doing so thats why cars have sun visors you morons.hey airtran associates take off your sunglasses its night time you idiots.

The obviously don't knwo what they are talking about. Everytime I fly, I fly Airtran. Most of my flights are to Atlanta or southern Florida. The flight are usually packed. I don't know how they could say the service couldn't be sustained...

Too bad, I like AirTran and only fly on Airtran. I guess I will have to see what happens next, but I am going to miss flying AirTran

I don't get it. I fly Airtran through ATL on a regular basis, and the flights are always full or nearly full. Especially in the winter/spring where AT is the best connection to just about anywhere southeast. I'd rather see Delta go than AT.

We are currently booked on a flight in January on AirTran from MLI to Fort Lauderdale; first time AirTran fliers. After seeing this on the 5:00 news broadcast, I immediately called AirTran, concerned about what will happen to our scheduled flight considering fares are climbing across the board and there was a reason we bought early.

The AirTran rep I spoke to said that they are not aware of any goings on of this nature, this is false, and that it would be listed on the AirTran website if that was true....so...I check the website and the announcement is there.

Soo...I call back AGAIN and yes, it is true of course after I point out that it IS on their website. All money refunded within 5-10 days...no flights...and back to square one with no apology or anything just a "thank you for calling" What a horrific way to treat a customer... I'll be back on the legacy carries now for sure. It's AirTran's loss, not ours.

Obviously this is how AirTran chooses to treat its Quad City area customer base. How long do you think AT can honestly support exclusive service to Ft. Myers and Orlando? Mark my words, within a year or less, AT will no longer be at the Quad City International Airport.
