This whole thing is outrageous! The FBI cleared the family after 2 hours, as in it was determined that these people were not terrorists. Then AirTran would not let them back on the plane or rebook them for any other flights. The family had to rebook and pay for last minute tickets on United for their trip to Orlando.

One of the men is a 34 anesthesiologist and the other man (his brother) is a lawyer. They were heading to Orlando with their families. My husband works with the anesthesiologist at the Washington Hospital Center and has known him for years. My husband said there is NO WAY his colleague would ever attempt anything like blowing up a plane. This is clearly a case of racial profiling.

It's clearly a case of the legacy/collateral 9/11 and the continued threat of muslim extremism leaves behind for 'good' Muslims everywhere.

Our nation needs two distinctly different ways to fly.
One way is for passengers to continue with the current system of inpections.
We'll call this: Wussy Air.

The other option is for no screening but the flight crew can gas the cabin with an aerosolized sleeping or knock out agent. Any trouble, everyone goes to sleep until landing.
We'll call this: Free Man's Air.

As of yet I haven't read or heard one whisper of the words terrorist, suicide bomber, extremist, Christian, Santa Claus Terrorist when referring to the madman who slaughtered the people in Cali. This leads me to believe those words are reserved for Muslims and Islam. What about the Dallas terrorist trooper who consulted with his Mormon Priest. Stop the double standard! Stop attributing an entire religion for the acts of a few!

If all you hear from the newscasts, and the politicians who say "intelligence" knows all/see's all, is: Better safe than sorry...Muslim, no matter in what capacity = terrorist. We, the citizens of this country have had that drilled into our heads for how long now. Just like the races, and the evil done by/to races by their own/other races have been spoon fed to us for decades. What can be expected? I'm sorry these people were, and will be discriminated against, but we live in an age where we're damned if we do, and sued if we don't. "We should have known, and taken the proper precautions", takes presidence over all else...it's called self-preservation. Who can blame the "common"/"ordin ary" citizen for crying wolf, at every turn. The government has seen to it that it happens on a regular basis. We shall never be permitted to be a united country.

These Muslims are trying to get publicity, but they're swimming upstream.

Airlines frequently keep people from reboarding whose comments have caused a plane to be delayed or searched, even if they are shown not to be terrorists. White people or other, it doesn't matter. Say something stupid, expect to take the bus.

It's security theatre folks. It's all designed to make you feel safe, so long as you're white middle class.

I never thought I would be all for rendering innocent people helpless, due to their rights, but the more I think of it, the better I like the idea. It's a much better alternative than dying midair, because there's no way to contain the immediate danger.

Wait for it! You'll hear plenty of opposition.

Oh please. If people of any other race said that you can bet no one would have cared. This is just sad. Makes me reconsider flying Airtran.

"At the end of the day, people got on and made comments they shouldn't have made on the airplane, and other people heard them,"

What comments are you allowed and not allowed to make?

Give me a friggin' break - Using the "race" card is such a lame excuse for bad behavior on an airplane. Don't like it??? Don't fly.

Great post.

It seems to me some scared hillbilly simpleton didn't like the looks of bearded men and women with headscarves, so they made up a story to get them off the flight. The person who falsely reported these INNOCENT AMERICANS should be the one banned from flying.

I agree, it was bad enough the family was pulled from the flight but to be denied a rebook, forget AirTran.

Thank you!

Amazing how people become so lax about our nations events, and only when something happens do they "pucker up" and then blame security for being lax.

A few people were inconvenienced for a couple hours...heck I fly regularly and am used to "being bothered" for a few hours every time I fly.

This is simply another case of people giving in to a "hyper PC" nation which is what got us where we were on 9/11 in the first place - so lax about everything that it was no problem for people to take over and kill thousands.

If I as an caucasion decided to walk the streets of downtown Baghdad unarmed would I be profiled because I'm Christian...hardly...I'd be shot execution style, beheaded, and left to rot in a ditch.

Deal with the minor inconvenience and move on.

Sorry to the family, too bad. Now move on! Better safe than sorry. They were given a refund. Maybe deserve a little more ... they need to shut up and move on.

Racial profile fit .... can't help the fact other Muslims were terrorists.

Well that is great Annabelle that your husband knows the man and that the man is his collegue and that your husband says there is NO WAY he would ever blow up a plane. However, the people who overheard his comments did not know him that well. SO, perhaps he should have used some discrecion when making those comments out loud in the presence of other passengers.

One last point .... the news is just full of interviews from individuals who claim that they knew the person and never dreamed that they could do "such and such a crime" yet however they did. So, it wouldn't be the first time a person acted out of character.

We live in a very dangerous world. I believe we all must err on the side of caution always. How you live your personal life is your decision. But when it comes to public transportation like the airplines I support the right of the airline to act in what they believe is in the best interest of all passengers. They would be sued by the surviving family members had the comments turned out to be real knowing that this was brought to the airline's attention BEFORE the flight took off.
