Get used to it with the state budget cuts. Or get ready for cuts in programs. My district is already aligning the budget and cuts in services, program offerings, transportation, etc.

We've been doing more with less for the past decade but fuel and food costs are killing us.
No one has gotten a raise in the past two years (except our adminstrators)and teaching, support and custodial staff has been cut every year. It is only going to get worse for local taxes.

When the voters say no they just keep coming back and asking again and again like a spoiled child who does not get his way.

There should be a waiting period after a no vote before any new tax levy can be put on the ballot.

The schools too, need to have a debt ceiling and not keep asking for more money from the homeowners, many of whom are on fixed incomes.

Mr. Kasich has kicked the can... right into your local municipality and school district. If you want the public services to which you have grown accustomed, you are going to have to fight.

SB 5 gives districts the tools to cut costs.

Most do not want to do so, as they exist primarily as a jobs program for administrators, who mostly are ex-teachers, or very sympathetic to teachers.

It is a rotten, corrupt system in nearly every school district in the state.

Northridge and Mr. Hudson, this is cruel. They said no twice, you are being greedy asking a third time.

Lets work just as hard to remove Mr. Hudson as we will to defeat the INCOME TAX.

VOTE NO.

Down here in Washington Co. Frontier Lsd. Want's a income tax. I am ready for county schools. 600 plus school systems. We need to combine school board offices and not close schools. Admin is what is killing are schools. Too many people at the top. If we had less admin. We could have more teachers and more for the bulidings. We need less government. How many layers do we need?

Hey Parasite... I think that those "tools" have already been used. Most teacher unions have frozen STEP and COLA raises for three years.. Some have taken cuts. I mean. I get it. The Tea Party wants a Cadillac but only wants to pay for a Chevette. Completely understand. Teachers should work for free... just like they do in the "private sector". JK is just shifting the costs down to the local level while he looks like some kind of hero to you so-called patriots that run around with the "Don't Tread on Me" flag. Of course ,JK and the boys passed SB5 the same way Obama, Reid and Pelosi passed Obamacare. Outrage then.. not now though.

Regardless of Kasich or Obama (both of which have their hands in our pockets too), we get to vote on one tax, and it is the school levy, and we will vote no. Schools have moved the pay so far beyond fair that to skip a raise for a year or two does not come close to achieving parity with community average pay (and for 9 months work with 3 weeks off and multiple 3 and 4 day weekends - or 185 days, whatever). The benefits are gold plated, the sick days are out of hand, and the administrators are making a killing and get gross-ups on their benefits, pay nothing for retirement, get free cell phones, and get car allowances to watch our kids pay to play.

Its so easy to vote NO.

Proposed new law.

ONE MONEY ISSUE PER YEAR!

The tactic is to simply wear down the voters with primaries, special elections, e.t.c. until you get what you want.

Organized supporters always show up. The rest of the folks, beaten to death with school levy votes, only have to slip up once. Is this fair?

Why do you call taxpayers "parasite"? Isn't it the schools who have created the huge system that lives, thrives, and sucks the life out of the taxpaying public.

And those "don't tread on me" kind of people are the same type of people who fought and died in the revolution so you are free to write on blogs like this.

And, they set up the great system whereby we can freely vote. And, we will freely and easily vote NO due to the attitudes you exhibit. So, keep it up, it makes our job more satisfying - and again, easier.

Money, money, money..... It's all about the money! Vote NO!!! Force the districts to live within their means. The whole country has long since lost touch with reality when it comes to funding. There just isn't anything left in the well, and rather than trying to dig deeper, they better look for alternative sources.....

Unless a school levy or income tax goes down to a resounding defeat(at least 60% against), school districts historically have, and will certainly continue into the future, keep putting it up for vote(fittingly without regard to election associated costs) every 3-6 months until they have switched enough no votes to yes votes. As everyone knows, they use tried and true scare tactics, threats and extortion to accomplish their single-minded goal of obtaining the additional funds they need for the next round of pay increases.

That is why it is critically important for every rational voter to go to the polls and vote no so as to ensure an overwhelming defeat. Only a lopsided defeat will send a clear and unmistakable message to these savages that enough is enough, and that it would be futile to put it on the ballot in the near future.

Can't you learn to live on the old income, like the rest of us?
Just because you've been spending money on things and programs for years, doesn't mean that these "protected" entities are sacred and cannot be examined, cut or eliminated.(Hint: "Nothing" is a real-world alternative in the spending column.(
Spend within your means - don't go after the rest of us.

The choice is either public schools for most or private schools for few. Most of the anti-teacher spewers on this forum have no trouble collecting government services when THEY need them. Typical Tea Party mentality. I love watching all those 65+ somethings on Medicare delivering the Health Care ballots wearing "No Government Mandated Healthcare" T-shirts. Height of hypocrisy.

With most of the wealth concentrated in 10% of the population and most of those Americans are over 55, it is no wonder the schools are given scraps behind the true drivers of the national debt - Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Careful of what you wish for. Using age discrimination as an excuse to fire older teachers is ageism. That is a slippery slope that leads to questioning many of the nice benefits the elderly get now in our population. The GOP cares nothing for America and only its wallet. You could be next on their hit list.

LMAO!!!! Don't hold the Tea Party up as some kinda patriot. Tea Party only wants less government - as long as it is someone ELSE's government that is cut. Fools.

The public schools are the best innovation our country has had. It educated a mass populace, assimulated immigrants into our system, and spread more of the national ideals of life, liberty, and happiness than any of the far right ideologues now running this State and country into ruin. Teachers start at around $36,000/yr, charters at $30,000/yr. The average is $56,000/yr. Your ilk has been so turned against teachers by the wacko right, that you have our your pitchforks and nooses ready to hang 'em all in some kinda Nazi-like mob rule. Way to go demonizing our educators, that will really help the next generation. Geesh.

Remember, a solid Middle Class is not the norm. Check your history books. We could easily slip to a full-fledged plutocracy is the GOP gets its way. Wake up, don't be fooled by what you read in the Dispatch or hear from Rush. Otherwise, you're like the proverbial frog in the frying pan.
