"His hope was that he would be shot and killed by police officers," Benton said.

Just think, free lodging, free food, free medical care, free educational facilities, what more can one ask for??????

Actually, it costs more to put someone to death than to give him a life sentence.

Looks like issuing this kid a social security number was an exercise in futility...

Probably this crime spree was a result of bad potty training. Thus, it's reasonable to ask for a 35 year sentence instead of the one handed down.
Wonder how long it will be before another attorney, paid by taxpayers, will be appointed to argue his first attorney was ineffective or negligent by not raising the inadequate potty training as a defense. Just makes sense to me. And the beat goes on.

anybody that leads poilce in a high speed car chase should get a mandatory life sentence for attempted murder!

I agree with the judge: "...he pointed out that others survive such childhoods without becoming violent criminals." If I still lived in Columbus this judge would certainly get my vote next time re-election rolled around.

It's about time some good sense prevailed from the courts.

Looks like that "struggle" with the police earned him a black eye. What a moron. Thank God he didn't actually kill anyone. He sounds crazy.

Well, I would say he was, in effect, "fixed" with this sentence. He certainly will not be getting the opportunity to reproduce. It's unfortunate that some parents can't be as responsible as pet owners....

There's no way that's true and goes against common sense. Show me some proof.

Stories like this are proof that making birth control available, for free, to everyone should be one of our nation's top priorities.

I'm real saddened that he wasn't shot by the cops so we don't have to foot the bill for his worthless existence behind bars.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve some time ,but that sentence seems somewhat excessive.
That's 88 years for 'attempted' murder, aggravated robbery and assault on police officers,(and it looks like 'the assault' went badly).
John Demjanjuk helped killed thousands of innocent people and didn't get that, sentence.
This kinda' stinks...again.
The difference is that bone, thugs, and gonna get raped in prison by a dude named "Harmoney" wasn't acquitted by his alleged victims. Last time I checked, your boy, Demjanjuk was not found to be one and the same as Ivan Demjanjuk by ISREAL. That's right, the Jews acquitted Demjamjuk.
But, hey, I forgot that you were deported to Sobibor in 1942 and recognized him as a Trawniki guard.
