RIP. While she absolutely smashed the glass ceiling for female journalists, can't say I was much of an admirer, though. Her comments regarding Jews needing to go back to Poland or Germany were way out of line, indicating to me she was long overdue getting the heck out of the job.

Long live the Maronite Catholic who had the courage to speak up about the Jewish squatters on Palestinian land!

No they weren't.

As a Maronite (Eastern) Catholic with Lebanese roots, she was acutely and instinctively aware of the TRUE situation over there and how the American public has been brainwashed. Lebanese Christians stand with Palestinian Christians who are on the same side as the rest of the Palestinian people.

No. It's much more complex than your personal situation. Telling an American who happens to be Jewish to go home is just as bad as telling a Black American to go home--use that idea. Religion does not have any bearing on legal citizenship here and her comments smacked of rancor and hatred. Whether you like it or not, Jews, Arabs, and Marionites have to learn how to live peaceably around a scrap of land that they all claim as their heritage--their holy land. The Jews who are in Palestine, have been there, established themselves there for considerable periods. They've come from the Iberian peninsula or as Ashkenazi immigrants from Europe, and have had substantial Yiddish groups there as well.

Now, are you going to tell me to "go away" because my grandparents were born in Poland and I'm Roman Catholic? Or can you find a way to live peaceably in a land where we both can claim citizenship? Remember, this is not a new situation and even as in the case of the US, there really and truly are few lands where there can be any "pure" ethnic or religious populations. Immigration happens, and it happens for a lot of reasons--some economic, some political, some happen to have wanderlust. AT the end of the day though, we all have 23 chromosomes and a will to live as we wish. Not so easy to tell an entire group of people to "go away" when they've established lives...

Hey...where's the stinky pizza? We wore towels this weekend and had onion dip for the chips, too.

He's not even running, yet. Let's see how the cards play out for the Rs after midterms. I seriously doubt he'll be much of a contender, but who knows?

I'd love to vote in NYC though. Just so I could vote against Carlos.

I'd vote for Carlos in the primary, he's the only D that would lose.
