You've confused elimination with eradication.
The first the scientific term used to indicate the removal of a pathogen from a set area, population or group which can lead to eradication or can be rolled back when and if a pathogen reenters that population.
The second is the scientific term used to indicate the wholesale removal of a pathogen as a potential cause for disease.
As always, happy to help.
Yeah i was going with the english dictionary http://i.word.com/idictionary/eradicate
Didnt know the "scientific term" wasso far off base from the literal meaning of the word. Amazing.

<quoted text> Again i know this. In the year 2000 the medical community stated measles and mumps had been eradicated. You know thats supposed to mean, don't you? It means they stopped it at the root... think of it like a weed. You can chop away at the top of it and it will come back but if you uproot it...... IT'S GONE!
Blame whatever you want they were still wrong.
Repeating it doesn't make it magically true.

Think about it moron. There wasnt one reported case in the US population. That means you can go with your English dictionary .

They know. However, it is their style to deflect because you are pointing out that there is weakness in their global warming argument or any other "scientific" reference they use to push their agenda.

Still waiting to hear that "scientific" answer the heart beat of a twelve week old baby inside the mothers womb that is being killed.

Instead of being nasty to those who have helped you realize how foolish you were being, you should consider just saying "Thank You."

From the same article:

"The Americas set a goal in 1994 to eliminate measles and rubella transmission by 2000, and successfully achieved regional measles elimination in 2002, although there have been occasional small outbreaks from imported cases since then."

So, yeah. Shockingly, it seems like we've got another case of you not understanding basic scientific vocabulary. Elimination =/ eradication.

The scientific answers about termination would reflect on the processes and outcomes.

You're looking for a legal, ethical, social science or cultural explanation if you're looking for a justification of a practice.

Which should be fairly straightforward, really. I don't really understand how people who know so little about science can get so hostile about it, rather than just start developing basic science literacy. It's not hard. Or scary.

You always try to act like youre being helpful, then you end up being verbally abusive. How many people do you think watched or read the news reports amd took the word for what it literally means?

How is pointing out that you've failed to understand a basic scientific term being verbally abusive?

I'm sorry if being corrected makes you feel bad. You can make this happen less often by researching what you post mad talk about beforehand or by framing your posts bad comments as questions rather than mockery of the disciplines you're unable to engage with.

I fear that some other people who aren't very clever and lacked the drive to read or listen to the news reports thoroughly may also have the same problem you've presented.

kinda like laws. Everybody (according to you) should be able to understand, yet from statute to statute the same word can have different meanings and 9 times out of ten it's nowhere close to the definition in the english dictionary.

gee thanks. But I do know what sarcasm, shockingly, so skip this lesson. I do appreciate your half assed patience with me and clearing the fart in the room. I did read the news, just thought "eradicate" had the same definition as the dictionary.

If nothing else, I hope you've learned a lesson about checking your understanding of concepts before having a giggle about how stupid the science community is.

Having an unquestioning, blind faith in all science published is pretty dumb. But an uneducated, knee jerk reaction against science seems somehow more sad.

Well, it should be put into layman's terms or explained in the reports the "terms of art" so people who arent in the medical field dont have "uneducated knee jerk reactions" based on the english definition of a word.

You did nothing wrong. This was not a report kept between communicable disease specialists but pit out to the gwneral media. Same was said about small pox until the muslims and other nu jobs started making threats of bio warfare. Then it has come to light that small pox outbreaks happens in small pockets around the world.

Keep on doing as you have and pay no attention the traitor that is afraid of a toothbrush.
