This is the same lame a s s bridge that cost taxpayers $60 million dollars. That bridge could have been rehabbed at $9 mil or built new for $20.

But Tax and Waste Mike Coleman and his tax theives in City Council wanted it to look special.... What a waste.

Can Coleman next election before he goes after another tax increase to waste more. His just spent $200 plus million downtown, all after we had to pass an emergency tax increase or go broke.

I bet Walmart would have built it for less than 1/3 the cost.. or wait.. the original budget was 20 mil and they went over budget by 40 mil. I bet we could have created our own engineering excellence award program and given it a trophy for 10 mil and saved 30 mil. But hey, it is only Tax Payer Money... a million here a million there... and before long we may actually be talking of real money....

Yep a lousy award, but Columbus taxpayers get to pay for it. This bridge was estimated to be repaired for $9 million and replaced for just $20 million.

So here is a prime example that demonstrates the out of control spending at City Hall. You have a clueless mayor and city council that stick a gun to the head of voters to declare a fiscal emergency and that a tax increase must be approved.

Yet they have no problem spending over $200 million dollars for lame parks and an over priced bridge downtown.

Hold Coleman and Council accountable next election.....

Nice idea! We could have gotten a low! low! low! priced bridge that was ugly as sin. It undoutbtedly would have made it onto the "10 ugliest bridges in the world" list - similar to those e-mails that people circulates titled "More Wal-martians" that feature ugly fat people dressed in nasty clothing that shows their azz-cr&cks who are caught shopping at WalMart.

Seem to be a lot of voices who really want to tear the city down. Critical of any improvements. And particularly critical of the Mayor who has brought about the improvements. Wonder what their political agenda is?

BTW--our former Mayor, Lashutka, was good at building stuff on the cheap. Recall the curb-cuts that all had to be redone because they were done wrong? And the John Maloney Health Center building that was condemned and had to be torn down due to structural problems? And wasn't the Town Street Bridge condemned due to years of poor maintenance?

Did the engineering award come with a $40 million dollar prize? Because that how much overbudget the bridge was. I think that when you are $40 million dollars over budget on a bridge that should have cost $20 million, you shouldn't win any awards for engineering. You would think that a group of people that deal with numbers, they should give awards for being under budget.
