Lawyers for Catholic hospital argue that a fetus is not a person

Have fun with this one, Fred.

Has this particular hospital argued in previous filings, briefs, appeals, etc that the fetus IS a person? If so then in this case sub judice it would be hypocrisy, otherwise no.

Then again, to quote serial sexual assaulter Bill Clinton it 'depends on what the definition of IS is'

You shysters are the ones who always say, "Respect the law; respect the system." Well, that's exactly what the defense is doing. The whole thing is subject to the laws of the State of Colorado. This in no way implies approval of the law by Catholics. The fact is that state law doesn't permit them to be held liable.
I would love to see that law changed, but until it is, your sainted "system" will have to do.

BTW, if you really were an attorney, you'd realize how silly you look even posting the thread.

How about this, Fred? Since the Catholic church is so respectful of the law of the land, how about you stop referring to abortion as murder?

It's funny how the Church chooses to claim a moral superiority over the law until it isn't financially convenient to do so. Real strong set of morals ya'll have.

I think the Pope has suggested it.

Lawyer is the operable word here. I have a long time personal friend who is a lawyer and he said there are many stupid lawyers out there but he thought highly of doctors. Maybe it's because lawyers study the manipulation of words and dotors study science?

And yes.....you do sound "silly"....why not give us some argument that the fetus isn't a person? Address the issue Alinsky.
No one can defend what lawyers do.

I'm not going to be as diplomatic or disingenuous as you lefties demand. Abortion is murder and I don't give a damn if that offends anyone.
Tell you what...get the law in Colorado changed, and as the Church operates in the system, they'll pay. You want it both ways shyster, and only out of hate, not because you even remotely give a damn about the human beings in this case.

What about the human beings that the Catholic hospital killed in that case?

I don't want it both ways. I agree with the court's decision. It is you and your church that have chosen to play both sides.

Don't you believe that religious philosophy is superior to the law? If so, it would seem your church would take a consistent philosophical stand even if it cost them a little money. It seems that money is more important than principle in this case.

That's who you don't care about, short bus. And I would say the physician is the liable party, but he too is covered by Colorado law.

I don't care about them? Explain how exactly you jumped to that conclusion. That is a funny thing coming from you. I have seen you have a compasionate thing to say about anyone who isn't a fetus.

You do want it both ways. You posted this thread out of anti-Catholic bigotry. Fine, that's your right. But don't expect thinking people to believe that a "lawyer" is stupid enough to do it and look as foolish as you do. And if you really were a lawyer you know that if you had your way, it would run counter to the laws of the State of Colorado.

I don't know what your last sentence means. Write clearly.

For such a flaming racist, you are sure quick to claim bigotry. What is it you say, facts can't be racist(bigoted)?

I think it is worth noting that you recognizing life at conception is a different concept then the law recognizing life.

I think it is perfectly reasonable to use the law in order to reduce the possible penalty or liability even while attempting to get the law changed. The use of that law has no bearing on the opinions or beliefs of a person or organization. A person who believe taxes are too high is not in contradiction of that belief if he supports the concept of someone else paying the same taxes. Similarly, a lot of rich folks have been trotted around claiming taxes aren't high enough yet they take every possible deduction, loophole, and everything else to lower their own tax obligations. Does that make them all liars or hypocrites or disingenuous, or contradictory?

It is virtually impossible to not be bigoted in some form.

E-Bob said something to this regard once.

Your Alinskying has failed again Che, relativists can't lecture about hypocrisy.

That's an interesting take. Was that your opinion when people were lambasting Warren Buffett for advocating for higher taxes for the wealthy while he was paying the current rate? Or when people were attacking Democrats who own guns for advocating stricter gun control? I hope so.

If that is the case, than it seems to me you should be directing that comment to Fred. He is the one crying about bigotry.

And if you have gotten the impression that I am a relativist, you are sadly mistaken.

That's the equivalent of Reader asserting that Hillary is a team player for having remained with Bubba post-Lewinsky, post-Jones, post-Willey, post-Broaddrick, et al.

Hillary never had a problem with Bill doing that. Just as Bill has no problems with her and Huma.
