No wonder the electorate keeps voting to give away our rights and freedoms...they are not even citizens. It's easy to give away something that's not even yours in the first place.

The Dems would like to dilute my vote with easier entry of bogus votes, i.e. "the Chicago way". Any laws to prevent voter fraud are automatically called racist. What should I call opposition to voter fraud prevention?

"Democrats bitterly opposed the bill that would require voters to show poll workers a government-issued photo ID (which could be obtained for free) before being allowed to cast a ballot. Noting that people who don't have such IDs are disproportionally elderly and minorities, opponents likened the proposal to the poll tax used to keep blacks from voting".

So the Democrats believe these same 'minorities' who somehow can't get a free photo ID are going to rush down to the nearest SS Office to sign up for and purchase their Government mandadted health care? They don't seem to have a problem getting anything else for free.

"Strongly supports"... "Bitterly opposes"...
Yup, that's the biased Dispatch we all know and love.

By the way, how can photo IDs be "obtained for free?" Or was this just fulfilling your quota for snarky parenthetical commentary?

These days you can't do anything without proper ID. Why should you be able to vote without one.
All this does is create a vulnerability to voting fraud, a proven winner for Democrats, in my opinion.

People come into this country in order to gain rights and job opportunities that they don't have in their own country. So, let's see if I can follow your logic here:[They're voting to take away various rights]...that they may have come here for in the first place. You probably think they all vote for various [job killing] tax increases [cause none of these immigrants pay taxes anyway]. Thus taking away the jobs that they came here for.(bracketed statements are proven false)

Yeah...I don't follow you here.

"People come into this country in order to gain rights and job opportunities that they don't have in their own country."

That used to be true, however, in recent times they refuse to integrate into American society and end up making their communities the same kind of rats' nests that they left in their old countries - just different rats in charge.

1. showing your govt issued id is nothing like a poll tax; it's simply quality control.

2. what will happen to me this november, if i refuse to show id when i go vote (i'm a white male)?

3. my only problem with this bill would the the "free" id cards. why should i pay for some loser's id? they seem to afford cigarettes/beer/weed, why not an id?

dear elected government officials, you are pathetic.

Quinnipiac released a poll recently that stated seventy-eight percent of Ohioans approve of photo id when voting. Elected officials are to represent the people, not their personal agendas.

We will remember who has voted against photo id in 2012!

If they don't pass voter ID, then we should all refuse to show Photo IDs to any government official who asks to see them for what ever purpose.

Thank goodness that cooler heads have prevailed... for now. This is not about undocumented people. This is about the many people, American citizens, who don't have photo IDs. They have every right to vote. We already have to show enough ID at the polls.

John Husted is the only hope Ohio has of seeing a Republican in the Governor's office in the next 20 years. He works hard at being open to all ideas and at the same time maintaining a level of integrity and honesty guys like John Kasich can't even touch.

"The bill passed by the House is opposed by Secretary of State Jon Husted, a fellow Republican, and the GOP-controlled Senate." If you're upset that this bill was sunk, at least place the blame where it belongs.

I feel bad for all those potential disenfranchised voters who can't cash a check or money order, drive a car, open a bank account, fly on a commercial airline flight, prove they are US citizens when obtaining a job, or apply for State or Federal benefits. Who's snowing who in this argument?

Once again, our elected officials fail to do the right thing. It amazes me that the State official who is responsible for the conduct of elections does nothing to protect the value of a vote.

You have to show an ID for everything else...

This is NEEDED. Well, the secret ballot is gone now anyway so voting is tampered with each election...

Franklin County REFUSED to put the curtains back up. and the poll workers walk around looking at people voting. This is NOT a secret ballot, not to mention the computer issues....
and busy bodies wonder WHY people do not vote....duh!

Some of you make me wonder if you even vote.

You do realize that you can't just bus large groups of angry white tea partiers around to various polling places and send them all in to vote?

Well, you could, but they wouldn't be allowed to vote. Because they aren't registered in that voting location.

According to you, these roving bands of angry white tea partiers are stealing the voting opportunities of registered voters? Like people are showing up at the polls and their name is already crossed off?

Now all the illegals that don't belong here to begin with can vote for the people that put them here. I think it's time that Americans take a stand and eliminate the things that are making this country bad.
