When my mean oldest sister was watching: Popeye When my nice older sister was watcing: Flintstones When I was watching: I liked the Flintstones, but didn't get much say. I LOVED the Dennis the Menace cartoon books that belonged to my mean oldest sister. So she destroyed them. Now, it's Dora the Explorer. No Spongebob in this house.
<quoted text> I never got into Disney as a kid because I loved the Hanna-Barbera characters and thought the Disney characters were pretty lame. Since Kings Island was owned by Taft Broadcasting, which also owned Hanna Barbera (and Channel 6 here), I liked Kings Island a lot better than Disney World. Here is a video of the signature ride I remember as a kid which featured a boat ride through an attraction featuring all of the Hanna Barbera characters. The theme song is unforgettable for anybody who grew up in that era. If nothing else, click on the video to here the theme song from this ride. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =KxiC46YuQSIXX
No way am I clicking that link. I refuse to have a song stuck in my head for the rest of the evening.
One more I just thought of. It had a short run, but it was funny because the main character mimmicked Curly from the Three Stooges ....... meets Jaws ...... and it's another Hanna Barbera classic! "Jabberjaw" The most futuristic shark you ever saw! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =0ezkrrA4vhsXX
I loved the Stooges, still do. Nyuk. Nyuk. Nyuk. Of course, now, parents would be considered abusers if they played it in their house. We used to have it on VCR tapes for our kids. I think they turned out normal LOL.
The Hanna Barbera "Enchanted Voyage" ride at Kings Island: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =KxiC46YuQSIXX
My favorite childhood place was never Kings Island. It was lame to me compared to Cedar Point. Better roller coasters. And you had the Breakers/beach area. No real "themes" going on except bigger, badder, faster rides.
