Sequester cuts hit poor, elderly, cancer patients

Jun 15, 2013 Full story: WBNS 99

In March, as the sweeping $85 billion reductions known as sequestration kicked in, President Barack Obama called them "stupid" and "arbitrary" and said they could thwart economic progress.

Gawd. Perhaps if you lived in Ohio instead of the UK, you would distinctly remember and wouldn't feel the need to have to do an internet search.
I live in Ohio. I don't recall and president saying that certain people needed to give up their jobs for the good of the Country.

And the practical kernel of his speech came in his repeated calls for “sacrifice” for the common good.
Sacrifice by whom? Nowhere in Obama’s whole speech did he call on corporations to forego their profits, rather than lay off a worker, or for banks to forego their profits, rather than foreclose on another mortgage.
But he did call for “the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours – that is, cut their pay – than see a friend lose his job.”

Last time I checked our CEOs worked for their money, contributed to the economy, made our lives better with their creative ideas, and earned what they are paid. Lazy people who never seem to be in their office, always taking separate vacations from their families so American taxpayers pay twice as much don't contribute much of anything.

Thought the sequester was gonna affect gov't. spending as well?
Trip #2 for the royal family this month could cost tax payers an additional 60-100 million.

Twice I have posted the exact quote, and twice it has been removed. Interesting, don't you think?
In fact, the exact quote I posted was in a UK paper for Tranp's benefit.

Obama told the auto workers in Ohio that the sacrifices they were making - and remember their salaries were cut in half if they still HAD jobs - were for the good of the next generation. And Che, I would guess that you don't have a family member who works in the auto industry which is why you can't recall the statement.

Meanwhile, he and his family fly all over for vacation at a time when hunger is at an all-time high in this state. Is that to help out the next generation, too?

If you have the audacity to argue that, then you are nothing but a troll.

And since this is not the first time that I have posted quotes repeatedly at someone's request and had them removed, only to have to take a beating because the quotes never appear, I am convinced that certain folks are only here because they are so unhappy with their lives that they need to take it out on others.

Maybe if I post the quote sans link it will stay:

"We saw 400,000 jobs lost in the auto industry in the year before this restructuring even began. I will not pretend the hard times are over. Difficult days lie ahead. More jobs will be lost. More plants will close. More dealerships will shut their doors, and so will many parts suppliers.

Are you equally mad at the lifestyles of the CEOs of the insurance companies, food companies, oil companies and utility companies? They seem to be doing quite well.
I most certainly have. For example, I've mentioned Monsanto numerous times around here and started threads about them, only to listen to crickets. See, the forum has been taken over by people like you who don't really want to talk about things - they just want to slam others.

How about you just type the direct quote in quotation marks without a link. I bet that won't get removed. Because what you just typed in this post is not what you claimed in earlier posts that Obama said. Praising auto workers for making sacrifices (that's funny, I thought unions never did that) is quite different than saying they were going to have to "give up their jobs for the good of the country," don't you think?

By the way, first you said Tran couldn't remember the alleged statement because she doesn't live in Ohio. Now I don't remember the statement because (you assume) I don't have a family member in the auto industry. Here's another possibility. Neither of us remember it because it was never made. Hmmmmmm.

Put on your big boy pants. Why do you write things on a public forum if you don't want responses and criticism? If you want to simply write without any response, start a blog.

So you read a quote from a speech given to people who are already suffering, designed to let them know that efforts are being made to rescue their industry but being honest that there will still be pain to go through and believe that the POTUS was telling the they needed to give up their jobs for the good of the country? If so, you need to really but some effort into considering context in your interpretation matrix.
