Seems to me the Republican and Libertarian candidates running for city council could also put an issue on the fall ballot repealing the 25% income tax hike imposed on Columbus 18 months ago.
It's a good issue. It would bring out more voters to support them.
Best idea I've heard all day!

Unreal. It's one thing when Socialists don't understand simple math but it's another when Communists play games with it to fool people.

Interesting - have we heard any Bob Evans employees loudly complaining about moving from that craphole southside to New Albany?
I bet they're liking the idea, along with their reduced local income taxes. And it's a lot safer.

That's not entirely true. But if i have to move any further north to get away from the ghetto-fication of Columbus, i'm going to be in Delaware County. Pretty much in Worthington now (technically Sharron Twnshp), so i'm still in the beltway.

What the hell is happening to this town? it's gone downhill fast.

Democrats. Namely Coleman and his Co conspiritors The city council and county commissioners. That is what is happening to it. Democrats destroy everything they touch. Ever here the phrase, " Fu c k up an anvil with a rubber mallet" it was a democrat that had the rubber mallet.

When will the people of Columbus realize that we are a being lead by a pied piper. Families and companies are leaving Columbus for the suburbs. Why wouldn't they with the leadership that is in place. Here are some stats, our schools can't compete with the suburbs, our homicides and crime is increasing, we are practically last in the USA in terms of major cities in recycling, and our once thriving commercial and residential areas are showing signs of urban blight. What will it take for everyone to realize that we are going backwards while the rest of the nation is moving forward? It is unfortunate that Bob Evans left but can you blame them...or more importantly what would you have done?

One can understand some of the reasons Bob Evans left Columbus. It is the same reason most decent people left the South Side. They are tired of the thugs and the drugs of the seedier and seedier area. However, I shall not patronize Bob Evans restaurants any longer. The Evans family has been pushed out of the company. It is now run by financiers with no respect for tradition or the values of the founder Bob Evans. The man made a fortune by selling sausage sandwiches to truckers. The quality of their sausage in the stores has markedly declined. It is now mostly water added to increase the weight. The price on the menus has steadily went up. The company moved their head quarters to accommodate their executives with more plush amenities. I remember another restaurant chain followed this same path. The chain was called Cookers. The CEO moved the company headquarters to Miami so he race his horses. Pretty soon, things started to fall apart. As they lost sales, they increased prices only to lose more sales. Finally, Cookers ended up in bankruptcy. However it helps that Governor Kasuck wrote an 8 million dollar check to help hire the moving trucks. I thought we elected Kasuck to poach business’ from other states not poach business’ from one Ohio municipality to another.

It has nothing to do with resources, and everything to do with gentrification. Price out the trash out of the area and it wont end up a garbage dump. In addition to New Albany, see UA and Grandview as examples.
this is being done on the northwest side,in response to the growing dirtbag population sliding into the area.

Sad to see it go, I for one refuse to just sit back and blame everyone in power. I shop in the area every weekend to put some money back into it. A new video game store opened next to Ollies so I try to shop their instead of the chain stores and I try to shop here instead of Grove City.

My point is, if your sad that this area of town has gone a bit downhill, go shop and spend some money there. It won't hurt anything.

Sorry south side, but the truth is your area of Columbus is a run down ghetto. And yes there will be no shortage of people that will respond to this post calling me stupid, ignorant and many other names. But all one has to do is look around, its obvious why any decent company would want out.
Instead of crying about Bob Evans' moving to a far better location, why don't you community leaders start working on cleaning up the crime, the trash and overall bad image that the south side has. Your first step will be when it comes time to re elect a mayor. Maybe a person that doesn't pander to the hood dwellers for votes!

Maybe if the multiple commissions and historic associations on the South Side would have stuck together in a single cohesive umbrella organization you would have had more clout dealing with Bob Evans and the City. What's that old overused saying? "Stand together or die alone." Rings true in your case...
