"They secured the area quickly"

When the gunman gets away, you did NOT secure the area.

If you build it in their backyard, they will come.

Reminds me of incidents I used to see at a big mall where threats of violence, gunplay, gang intimidation and crimes like this too place often.

The police did what they could and the mall owners begged for help. Shoplifting and vandalism became the by-products, yet no one could seem to stem the time.

People didn't seem to feel safe and they stopped going to the mall and the anchor stores left quickly, followed by small owners, restaurants, and specialty retail.

It's going to be a park soon!

Easton will lose most of its retail within ten years if the "hood rats" are not driven from the mall. No sane person will patronise a shopping center where they fear for their life with reason. The center in less than 15 years has degenerated to a level that matches Northland Mall in its terminal days. The blame is not on George Bush, white America, or Santa Claus. The blame TOTALY rest on those in the minority community who have NEVER taken responsibility for a single act in their pathetic lives. The majority of responsible black Americans need to step up and knock the stupid out of these leaches. By their (the baggy pants brigade) anti social ghetto actions, they are a cancer on the black community

There is no 'safe place' anymore!
Easton is going down and we all know why. Something has to be done before Easton becomes a City Center or a Northland Mall!
Sad, guys!

Probably, but they'll have a nice bridge and theater downtown thanks to Democratic Mayor Michael B. Coleman.

I had been told by people who frequent Easton that cops are seen on the roofs of the buildings, watching the area. So Wexner et al know the danger there but the media keep mum because they don't want to discourage retail business. It does look like Easton will go the way of City Center and Northland. Deservedly so. If we could all have body-guards like the Wexners I guess we could shop there. What are the preachers in the African churches saying to their flocks? Do they care what's going on or do they want to see the collapse of society?

And you know no one will come forward because they don't wanna be a snitch. This is why I stay home on weekends.

We were at Easton last night and the number of boisterous, unsupervised kids was much more than normal. We also spent some time in the Apple store (according to the police timeline - apparently we left just before the disturbance) and I would guesstimate that there were at least as many unsupervised kids as there were adults. The whole night was a very negative experience. For now, I suspect we'll be spending date night at Polaris. It's all very sad.

Exactly!

I stopped going to City Center when the gangs of punks took over. Same thing is starting here. Go to the Easton movies with your family Fri/Sat. night and you will see what I mean. I will not be caught at Easton on the weekends or after dark.

I have two solutions.

1.) Don't allow any minors unsupervised at any time.

Or

2.) Start profiling

I don't know if this is related, but I got the 9:30 #16 bus that travels from Easton to Great Southern, and it was a half an hour late. An irate rider said the driver's lateness is making him late too - for work. The driver explained that he was very sorry, but he had a bus load of teens, and they got very rowdy, and even broke out one of the buses windows, still hanging by - almost nothing. Were there panicked children getting back home from the scene of this shooting?? The time frame is exact, and the message of the incident had just come onto the Jumbotron at Broad and High at that time. Worried in Columbus.

metal detectors at the doors....and mall security called at the first sign of an altercation...it's unfortunate, but violence can occur anywhere...

You hit the nail on the head. The city loves the taxes but don't ask them to get off the dead @@@@@ and patrol the area. Columbus's future ghost town in the making.

get rid of the buses going there, and do not allow underage kids alone. Increase the presence of security so it is seen on the street areas of Easton.
Things will only get worse in warm weather if it's not stopped now. Violence increases in hot weather
