Oh, we have to have a long talk about hummingbirds! I will PM you soon. I love watching them and get lots. P.S. Don't use the manufactuered necture. I'll give you my recipe.
P.S.S. I do not like squirrels and have only seen one in a year. I should shoot it!
Them bushy tailed tree rats are mighty tasty to cats. And I like them fried as well.

Hummingbirds are cool. We have a feeder up during the summer and it is neat to see the little buggers zoom in and hoover with their long beaks and then zoom off.

My sweetie too makes the nectar from scratch. However, it does attract the bees and yellow jackets.

Brings back some good thoughts on a cold winter day. Thanks!

But I left out the entertainment we get from the cat watching from the window. That tail of hers is just going back and forth. Entertains her for hours.

Hmmm. No problem with bees or wasps. I do use Avon's Skin So Soft to wipe the bottom of the feeder and also the tops of the poles they hang from....but that's mainly to deter ants.

I am up to four feeders. three have little things for them to perch on while they feed. They are so funny and guard their turf! One is feeding and another swoops in and they end up chasing eachother, swooping and diving. My dogs could care less about them or the Canadian Geese. But the larger dog, 20 lbs., loves the snow and barking and chasing other birds.

But

They are little vandals, Spookerini! They'll chew up your electrical wires, eat the bird seed, get in a parked car and demolish it if they have a chance. And if they get corn, they bury the kernels and you have corn stalks sprouting in the middle of your lawn.

We never saw them here, in the country, until the developments started spinging up and brought the vermin with them. But they mostly stay away from my place. My husband calls them 'rats with tails.'

I recommend head shots. Then skin them soak in salt water overnight , rinse, cut into quarters roll in egg was and flower seasoned to taste and fry them in a cast iron skillet. Best served with honey glazed carrots and a nice salad with plenty of spinach and purple cabbage.
