A legal storm is brewing between two weathermen at WCMH-TV (Channel 4).

Bob Nunnally has filed a libel lawsuit against fellow forecaster Jym Ganahl in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

The lawsuit says that Ganahl and perhaps “an unknown individual or individuals” made false statements that injured Nunnally in his “trade or profession” and exposed him to “ridicule, hatred or contempt.”

The complaint, filed on Nov. 5, says the statements were written in June, but does not reveal what Ganahl is accused of writing or where he wrote it.

Attaching the written material to the complaint would cause further injury, according to Nunnally’s lawyer, Jennifer Joseph. She wants to provide the material to the court under seal.

“I’d rather not go into the details,” Joseph told The Dispatch today.“This is really sensitive right now.”

Attorneys for Ganahl also wouldn’t detail what allegedly was said.

“The claims asserted by Mr. Nunnally in his complaint are not viable,” said Jeffrey Dittmer, one of Ganahl’s attorneys.“We are hopeful that upon reflection, Mr. Nunnally will dismiss the complaint.”

Ganahl did not return a message left for him at the station tonight.

Ganahl has been with Channel 4, the NBC affiliate, since 1979 and is the station’s chief meteorologist, appearing on the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Nunnally, a radio and TV personality for 25 years in central Ohio, is the morning meteorologist at the station.

The lawsuit seeks damages of more than $25,000, the threshold for filing cases in Common Pleas Court.

The case was randomly assigned to Judge Daniel T. Hogan, who recused himself because his wife is Gail Hogan, who hosts Daytime Columbus on Channel 4. The case is now assigned to Judge Richard A. Frye.

Think it was over his forecasting or something a little less "weighty"?

The question is, why does this topic drive you into a petulant rage?
You aren't terribly stable, little man.

If you ever get that GED, take a psychology class. One thing you'll learn about is "projection." The TA can use you as the test dummy for the class.

Length of service has nothing to do with it. If Jym really did something wrong, he may see the door; you, out of anyone, should know that. We can only surmise what it may be since they are not releasing certain components of the case.

Makes for an "interesting" workplace regardless of the outcome. I would love to be in on the water cooler gossip.

Well, Jym has been there forever and he just signed a 6-year contract to be there until age 70.

Considering Big Bob Nunnally once fell asleep on the set of the morning show, I'm going to guess Jym takes issue with Big Bob's meteorological skills or his work ethic. Or could Big Bob be playing the race card?

MEDIA MORSELS: Gelber remains quietly competent

NBC 4 meteorologist Ben Gelber has never developed much of an on-air personality. Next to the likes of folksie weather extraordinaire Jym Ganahl, a sassy Bob Nunnally and the boisterous alliteration that is Marshall McPeek, Gelber tends to look a little gray, meteorologically speaking.

Tuesday night, NBC 4 coanchors Cabot Rea and Colleen Marshall tried to change that and coax Gelber out of his shell, after they’d evidently thrown in the towel on the night’s newscast.

The Gelber-baiting began when Cab and Colleen began playing a video they’d found on YouTube of a baby dancing to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a ring on it).”

The anchors were having so much fun yamming it up and cackling at the dancing baby, they seemed reluctant to turn the broadcast over to Gelber, who remained stoic off to the side.

“Come on, Ben, why don’t you dance like that for us?” Marshall asked.“Give us a few moves and make us feel better about all this rain!”

“Yeah! Do the worm for us right across the desk!” Rea suggested.

“Well, we have the water, so we … we definitely have the right kind of weather to do the worm,” Gelber said, remaining composed by science.

Unfortunately, somebody forgot to turn off Cabot and Colleen’s microphones, because the two continued to cackle hysterically at Gelber’s soggy, flavorless transition into the weather report.

“The worm!” Marshall could be heard hollering as Cabot giggled.

Gelber stopped and shot a few awkward glances over at the news desk before continuing his LiveTitan report.

From another site:

2nd hand report:
Both meteorologists corresponding with the same "fan" through social media. Nunnally sets up a date of some sort with the fan. Ganahl finds out, and sends the fan an email warning her of Nunnally's "past", including sexual harassment issues. Fan forwards Jym's email to Bob.
