...A keynote speaker was a black pastor with AIDs. He recounted that his congregation had little problem forgiving his marital infidelity. But they could not deal with the fact that he was gay. Pretty powerful message from that man.
Unless he repented from his homosexual practices, he is not deserving of their forgiveness.

Pretty powerful message...from God.

Portman had a choice; in fact, he claimed that his previous views were "rooted in his faith."
Thus, his choice was to abandon his faith.
Perhaps his faith was deepened through discernment.

But, he also had a choice to abandon his son.

Tip, neither homosexuality nor heterosexuality are defined by practices.

Notice the order:

Honor God.
Honor your family.
Love people by sharing with them the Truth.

Homosexual behaviors are specifically condemned in the Bible, while heterosexual behaviors are encouraged within the scope of marriage.

Another message...from God.

Tip, someone who is gay is gay even if fully celebate.

Someone who is heterosexual is heterosexual and capable of a variety of condemned behaviors.

This is a simple reality that you refuse to accept.

And so long as it's not YOUR oriface, I cannot see why it matters so much to you.

Castration works pretty well, as does cyanide.
We already put down defective people through capital punishment, why not add another category to the list in the interest of public health?
Are you volunteering?. I'll buy.

Once again...let's follow your assertion to its natural conclusion:

"Someone who is ___[FILL-IN-THE-BLANK: pedophilic, bestiophilic, necrophilic, et al] is such by nature, and therefore, is not to be judged on the basis of his/her 'natural orientation.'"

The reality is that these individuals are defined by their deviant sexual behaviors -- and, in fact, they themselves insist upon being solely identified by those behaviors.

When was the last time you attended a "Hetero Pride" event or saw a "Hetero Pride" bumper sticker?

Exactly.

Are you implying that heterosexuals are ashamed of their sexuality?

I thought we got over that during the 60s.

And, for the record, I was hetero long before engaging in any sexual behaviors.

And I have never considered myself to be asexual simply because I wasn't doing it with someone at the moment.

However, if people are determined to be hetero (or not) by their sexual behaviors, what are nuns and priests?

Deflection FAIL.

The question you should be asking is why same-sex deviants are not ashamed of their aberrant sexual behaviors, and why they insist on being defined by those behaviors.

BIOLOGY 101:

Heterosexuality is Nature's default setting so as to ensure propagation of the species.

Those who claim any other orientation are psychologically disordered against Nature.

tip, you are, I presume, a straight man.

I have no need nor any desire to know the ins and outs of your sexual behaviors. Nonetheless, you are straight.

Likewise, I have very little need to know about the specific sexual behaviors of people I know who are gay. Like everyone else (everyone) they may have regular relations within a long-term relationship many, many other possibilities. And frankly, I find it dangerous territory to go around imagining the sexual lives of people that I know. For most people it's really a case of "you don't want to go there."

Your complete obsession with how other people do it really mystifies me, tip. Having been to a few Gay Pride Events, I can assure you most of the activities have to do with a wide range of things other than having sex, like eating, drinking, listening to music, buying trinkets and having a great time being with other people.

Like straight people, people who are gay can choose whether or not to have sex, with whom to have sex, how often to have sex, all kinds of things about sex. But they don't get to choose whether or not to be gay. Just as you don't get to choose whether or not to be straight. Right?

Normalizing aberrant sexual behaviors of psychologically disordered people is unhealthy for society.

You refuse to address the implications of your above assertion -- an assertion that would create a society in which all sexual deviants may claim "natural orientation" as a defense for their aberrant sexual behaviors, and thus, elude moral judgment and, worse, demand society's affirmation of their behaviors.

I don't really believe in psychology that much. I believe you are wired a certain way, and that it "can" play out in ways understood by psychologists, who mostly help you deal with your behavioral quirks, insecurities and whatnot. Psychologists can help you deal with your wiring, but they can't help change things.

These people are wired a certain way and they have certain "interests" that 98% of us don't have. That 2% should be dealt with compassion and understanding, but in no way should the behavior be considered either "normal" nor should it be considered a valid lifestyle "alternative" for people like picking Coke over Pepsi.
