Done what on purpose? Shouldn't you be getting your mani/pedi/waxing in preparation of your wedding ceremony?
Or have you already had the ceremony? If so, good thinking. If it hasn't worked out for your fiancee by tomorrow morning, they won't have wasted the whole weekend.
Spelled grammar incorrectly. I had assumed this was done for ironic effect, given the sentence. Though it seems I've offered too much of my trust in your abilities, again?

You're making way too much sense for this conversation, keefer.
An appeals document is nothing but a filing wherein a plaintiff/defendant makes any claim they want to to warrent an appeal or vacate a conviction. It's not evidence. Not evidence.
As for moving money, it can be done without much effort and be untracable.
I said to start at the document I posted THEN GO BACKWARD. You deserve to look like fools trying to act like you know what you're talking about - you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

It goes back to the premise: it is NOT PROOF of "hush money." NOT EVIDENCE. That simple. Have to work it backwards and show the "money". It ties NOTHING together factually with evidence that "hush money" was paid to a specific victim.
Got it?
Gotta get me some kibbles and bits with BACON BACON BACON! Woof!
I posted that document as a starting point for you because you were so incredulous about the whole thing. I also told you to go backward and obviously, you didn't. I didn't realize that I would have to spell out how to research. My bad.

Duke, I've dealth with many lawyers for many years, on a mulitude of subjects, and you sound nothing like an attorney.
Furthermore, I cannot imagine one of them that would spend the time you do on here, maintain a practice and speak in absolute certainties and as unguarded as you do in your 'opinions.'
Tony drops in once in awhile and makes sense. Topix is your career.
To summarize, I doubt you're an attorney and certainly not one I would use.
Are you arguing a case in front of SCOTUS, or even State court of appeals when not on Topix?
gokeefe made more sense in a few posts then you have on this whole, long thread.
There are two people I absolutely believe are/were involved in the legal field: Woofie and Che, and I won't qualify that. I don't need to.

Exactly one of my points. You have the burden of providing the proof that this all happened. This happened concurrently with allegations of fraud. You sort it out. An appeals document isn't proof of the "payment."
How many times do I have to explain that
1) "Hush money" is hard to prove
2) You have to have a documented history, which wasn't provided here
3) Regardless of my opinion of these "rogue priests" as you label them, Che certainly seemed to confuse the civil lawsuit settlements with "hush money." The two are not the same.

"Did the victim receive any gifts or other enticements from the cleric? Money? A car? Alcohol or drugs?

Over the past several months, thousands of 12-page surveys, each with more that 100 questions, have been filled out by the 190 Catholic dioceses across the country and mailed to an auditor in Washington, D.C.

A half-century of sex-abuse statistics - the most comprehensive report of its kind ever attempted - will be released Friday by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, which compiled the numbers and authored the research study.

Also this week, Bishop Anthony Pilla is expected to announce the tabulations of sex- abuse crimes committed by clergy against children in the Diocese of Cleveland since 1950.

At the urging of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the leaders of more than half of the dioceses in the country already have released some of their data submitted for the John Jay report.

Victims' groups and lawyers for victims are anxious to see how detailed Pilla gets in his report.

Bishops in other dioceses have limited the release of information to the barest of data, such as: The number of victims and clergy abusers, the amount of money paid to victims, and when most of the abuse occurred."

Par for the course, gokeefe:

"Dan Rather's investigation into the Firestone crisis reveals that although many people, including the families of victims and their lawyers, knew about the alleged defect in Firestone's tires, the truth was kept quiet by a series of secrecy agreements signed as part of the company's legal settlements."

Funny thing is, I can easily think of several reasons why such secrecy clauses as they relate to publicizing the defective tires (or priests) rather than the amount of money paid would be completely unenforceable.

I'd advise to sign, take the cash, hold a press conference, and watch the fun.

I know Paco. It is hard to believe what happened, isn't it? Not just in Cleveland either.

There are databases like this documenting horrible crimes committed by the hierarchy all over the globe:

If some wish to insist upon living in denial about what those in positions of authority did, they will continue to do so.

Carry on.

No, I don't think so. He's tough.

He will soon return to courageously activate the ecclesiastic truth shield by changing the subject and deflecting blame towards others, invoking the "Billy did it too" and "rogue, homosexual priest" defenses.

Just watch. Its like predicting that the sun will rise.

This article was published well before the case we're discussing was settled and the document in question was issued by the courts (2004)...so where's the proof and how does the appeals that was posted here tie into this? There's no discounting in this discussion that abuse occcurred and that there were hush money payments. The entire point goes to Che's claim that she had proof of specific payments of "hush money" to victims in Cleveland. There's really no definitive proof.

What, what?????!!!!! Whoa.

Both involve settlement agreements purportedly obligating those accepting cash to remain silent in consideration of their acceptance of that cash.

Its not rocket science.

These attorneys do not run a one man show out of their basements.
They are partners in big name firms in PA, DC, NY and FL, most with foreign offices also.
Because of who I work for, they take my calls immediately (most of them answer their own phones) or return my calls quickly.
Over 25 years we've formed close bonds. One of their sons pracices in Ohio.
You're, if you are an attorney, a hack, and since you stated you take money, doesn't matter if it's $5. bucks, and then don't return clients calls, plus doodle on the internet 'simutaneously' while 'working', you're a thief. That simple.
