So the Coleman administration spent the last two terms building up downtown at the detriment of the other inner ring neighborhoods and now it is falling apart. This city needs a change. My neighborhood on the west side is on the brink of oblivion, as are some on the South and East sides. Hopefully the voters downtown are starting to feel the same burn the rest of us have felt for 8 years now. Thank you Liz Lessner for standing up to them, when are you or one of your business partners going to run for mayor? I bet it'd be a landslide.

Sorry Betty Jo, but the Mayor doesn't care about any of the neighborhoods outside of Downtown Columbus, neither do the residents of Downtown Columbus. In fact I'd dare say that many who reside in Downtown, along with those who reside in Dublin, UA, and other areas would be more than happy if the West, South, and East sides were obliterated. Take a gander through many of the postings and you will see that most of the respondents think everyone who lives in the West, South, and East side areas are scum and nothing but welfare-trash. Sadly, none of them venture into those areas long enough to see the hardworking people who do NOT receive any sort of welfare or entitlement. The people who keep their yards tidy, their homes neat, and do all they can to clean up their neighborhoods without ever asking for help, only because they know help will never come. They don't see those of us who pay our bills on time, with our own money. They don't see the families who work hard to ensure their children are educated and taught to respect others. They don't see how we struggle daily with trying to create safe neighborhoods only to have the ghetto trash move in a few houses down. Nor do they see that many of us are fed up with the ghetto trash, hood rats taking over our neighborhoods. But they don't care, they'd rather be rid of the West, South, and East side areas along with ALL of the people who live in those areas. Hence why many of them are happy that Coleman is forcing the ghetto trash out of their areas and into the West, South, and East sides.

The mayor and city council are trying to drive nusiness from the downtown so they can create another open grassy park area. The first new park will be named the DUD Park after mayor coleman.

Unlawful Sidewalk Umbrellas !!!!
We can't have that
Let's make it a civil violation and hire a firm in Texas to take pictures
We could also go after those Flower Pots the business owners are sneaking out

Obviously some downtown business owners are a little late on their campaign contributions. How is the Mayor going to understand the needs of everyday residents and business owners if he can't live a billionarire lifestyle? Come on.

Rumor has it that individuals will need to buy permits at $50 each to set up their picnic areas in the new commons park downtown then they want to attend picnic at the pops downtown. The permits will specify size limits for blankets and what color the table cloths can be, the type wine glasses that are acceptable, and list the only food institutions that people are allowed to bring in food from .(There will be a campaign donation requirement to Coleman for a resturaunt to get on the "pops" list.)

Next will be similar limits on attendees to the 2012 Red White and Boom.

Why would anyone want to eat outside a restaurant, on a sidewalk shared with pedestrians and right next to a street full of motor vehicles? Even in nice weather?

I know that PWTP is now doomed due to this bonehead move to the downtown. Maybe some of the urban hipsters can support it...NOT!

You do not change a great thing if it does not need to be changed. Now you will have grass that has had dog urine and feces on it, you will have to deal with downtown parking, and I expect that food and beverages will only be able to be purchased from authorized vendors at Coleman Commons.

Another Mike Coleman FAIL to promote the downtown while again leaving the rest of the city to rot.

I was thinking along the same lines, and what is so bad about the inside of the place of business that they would rather not have the customers indise?

The sidewalks are for people to walk on and the streets are for people to drive on. Conduct your business inside your business, not where people are trying move about.

You betcha that Picnic with the Pops is doomed. I used to work & SHOP downtown but, there is no reason to really go there anymore other than a few unique stores and Gay Street area.

Those that I know who went to PWP are just as adamant about NOT going downtown for the crime, paying to park and having to buy their food from licensed vendors. Another bone head move Columbus!
