The political system is designed to be adversarial. The only reason people are complaining (IMO, its just chattering class) is that in the past the two parties were ideological big tents, and now they are ideological opposites.

Politics is SUPPOSED to be divisive, if it's not you are being sold out.

The invasion of Iraq was the single WORST decision any American president ever made.

Yeah, sending 500,000 troops to Vietnam was a stroke of genius. So was going off the gold standard. Not killing bin Laden in 1998 was a nice touch, too.

He never went before the nation, on a live telecast to announce this to the nation. He was waiting for newer, better intelligence.

Here we are seeing someone, trying to change the story. A Republican no doubt. They don't look for the Republican faults, instead they look up what the Democrats did, or didn't do. If it is guns they talk about their rights. They are always looking for something, that has nothing to do with with the subject.

Again, Bush Derangement Syndrome

The people that decided that Mao was a swell guy in the 1940s did far worse damage to our international standing.

You have a hell of a nerve telling anyone to shut up, hilljack. You don't belong here. You've never been to Columbus in your life yet you try and tell us how to live and think. That sh!t doesn't fly around here you dirt bag.
I have been to Columbus, many times. I have stayed in Columbus, Dublin. As a reporter, photographer covering the political news. I have written in many newspapers though out America. I didn't want to tell you that, you. But ignorant people like this blunderbuss, has to be told off. A guard at the Columbus jail. Retired, was caught for bringing in contraband in his underwear. Now to lazy to work. He is so fat, wife makes a living. You have a lot of nerve calling anyone a dirtbag PFC.

You couldn't write for the Auto Trader, hilljack. You didn't want to tell us because you just made it up. You're good at that, just like finding Dublin on a map and claiming you've been up here. And how many times must you be told that there's no such place as "the Columbus jail."
Think you could pass a single class at my alma mater, Jethro? I guarantee, you'd be laughed right back out onto I-95.

Ten years ago this month, George W. Bush was more interested in summer vacations than terror attacks. Read as I tell what happened leading up to America getting attacked. George W. Bush sat on his DEAD ass and let NYC take a hit.

Speaking of dead asses:

NBC, regarding Obama:

GREGORY:“Was it inappropriate for him to go to a fundraiser the day after this attack now in retrospect knowing that it was a terrorist attack, inappropriate for him to engage in politics as usual?”

DAVID PLOUFFE:“No. The president obviously is 24/7 engaged in the job of the presidency. He has spent an enormous amount of time in these weeks, by the way, in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. So absolutely not. A president is on call 24/7, and that just comes with the job.”

GREGORY:“24/7, but apparently not during U.N. meetings..."

The best Plouffe could offer was boilerplate about Obama being in "constant contact" with world leaders, but that isn't true either. I do take slight issue with Gregory's characterization of the Benghazi raid being revealed as a terrorist attack "in retrospect." That may be accurate from the public's perspective, but it's not so for the White House. It took investigative media reporting to debunk the administration's persistent lies and misdirection on what really happened -- and the US government knew the massacre was an act of terrorism on "day one." On the first day after a sitting US Ambassador was assassinated in a terrorist attack on 9/11/2012, this president skipped his daily intelligence briefing in favor of attending a Las Vegas campaign stop. His campaign sees no issue with that timeline whatsoever. The Washington Post re-states the obvious in an article detailing the abysmal security situation in Benghazi leading up to the deadly ambush.

The lead story in 2001 was Congressman Gary Condit. The Republicans were sure Condit had somehow killed Chandra Levy.

There were also inklings that something might be amiss at an energy company called Enron. Remember Enron that happened on the Bush watch? There were numerous things that happened under George W. Bush watch.

By the summer of 2001, Americans had become all too familiar with "hanging chads," but few had ever heard of al Qaeda or Osama bin Laden.

Just keep in mind Obama wasn't heard of in 2001. Nor was he President. The only thing we should remember about Obama in all of this:

Obama and the Democrats are REPAIRING the "BUSH MESS" that George W. Bush left behind for the next President.

When 2016 rolls around, people will remember the last Republican President in the White House that sat on his dead ass, as America got attacked.

Who was president when Enron was doing this, hilljack?

During 1990, Enron Finance CEO Jeff Skilling hired Andrew Fastow, who was well acquainted with the burgeoning deregulated energy market Skilling wanted to exploit. During 1993, Fastow began establishing numerous limited liability special purpose entities (a common business practice); however, it also allowed Enron to transfer liability so that it would not appear in its accounts, allowing it to maintain a robust and generally increasing stock price and thus keeping its critical investment grade credit ratings.

During 1998, Enron began operations in the water sector, creating the Azurix Corporation, which it part-floated on the New York Stock Exchange during June 1999. Azurix failed to become successful in the water utility market, and one of its major concessions, in Buenos Aires, was a large-scale money-loser. After the relocation to Houston, many analysts[who?] criticized the Enron management as being greatly in debt. The Enron management pursued aggressive retribution against its critics, setting the pattern for dealing with accountants, lawyers, and the financial media.

One example of fraudulent records was during 1999 when Enron promised to repay Merrill Lynch & Co.'s investment with interest in order to show profit on its books. Debts and losses were put into entities formed "offshore" that were not included in the company's financial statements, and other sophisticated and arcane financial transactions between Enron and related companies were used to eliminate unprofitable entities from the company's books.

After a series of revelations involving irregular accounting procedures bordering on fraud perpetrated throughout the 1990s involving Enron and its accounting company Arthur Andersen, Enron suffered the largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy in history.

So Jethro, who was president during those years?

Let’s look back for a moment in the year 2001. Remember I mentioned Enron?

Enron, a multibillion dollar corporation that employed thousands of people and had affiliations right up to and including The White House. The White House, that George W. bush occupied. Bush slept on the floor of the Oval Office, or was slumped over in his chair asleep. When he wasn’t asleep, he was plotting another vacation. He sure wasn’t being President.

In the final analysis, the conspiracy of Lay, Skilling and others led to the collapse of the company due to fraud, false reporting of revenue, shoddy accounting practices and a general disregard for virtually every tenet of business ethics.

All the while Bush, looked the other way. Greed in those days under George W. Bush was not only the norm, but encouraged. Get rich, no matter who gets hurt. Corporate greed went for EIGHT LONG YEARS UNDER George W. Bush.

Millions Effected

Enron, with the help of government resources, was able to wreak a great deal of havoc in an incredibly short period of time; this havoc, as can be clearly seen, was not limited to the United States either, but extended to other nations and continents. The lives that this affected must surely number in the millions.

The Enron scandal changed the lives of everyone in America, and elsewhere, in one way or another, for better or for worse. Perhaps just as importantly, it forced everyone to look at themselves and fully realize the consequences of reckless greed.

Reckless greed is what Republicans do best?

Remember Mitt Romney, the greedy bastard used the church to avoid taxes. Anyway, the story of Mitt Romney for America is over. God was looking out for America on November 6, 2012. Give thanks to God, we don't have John McCain, or Mitt Romney as President. Can you imagine, John McCain as President? He passed ------Sarah Palin as President?

Our lives are definitely better, we are no longer fighting the terrorist at our homeland, gas price is now at all time low, we spent our tax dollars to build democracy in middle east, built schools and roads for them people and not breaking a sweat about our infrastructure and still manage to have a surplus under Bush, we hired more teachers and police and firefighters to keep our country safe and educated. It is worth every penny if you ask me and our stock market and housing market are booming once again.

9/11: Bush Knew PERSPECTIVES HOME

A collection of compelling articles, which refute, or, at the very least, call into question, the assertions that Bush and his administration had no prior knowledge of events that would lead to the 9-11 tragedy.
