None of the passengers in the car were wearing a seat belt or restrained by child safety seats? 11 months, 5 and 8 year olds? Bad mommy, bad daddy...

Yeah, seriously, it's one thing for an adult to decide not to wear that seatbelt - they have the mental capacity (you'd hope) to understand the risk they take by not buckling up. But the children are at the mercy of the parents/adults in the vehicle. Someone should have made sure they were safe.

"None of the passengers in the car were wearing seat belts or restrained by child safety seats, according the patrol."

Damn shame...no seatbelts on any of them and speeding and failure to stop. Ms. Hoover will have a lifetime of guilt!!!!!!!!!! She is so lucky no one else was killed. R.I.P. Charles Muetzel....

The woman driving must be in need of a brain transplant. What mature(?) woman would even start a car with babies unrestrained in a car. She must have been drunk.

Nice remark--you do not know if the woman was drinking; but yet you put that remark out there. I agree that whoever was responsible for the children should have had them belted in (they have the same last name as the man who was killed--maybe he was their dad). However, I don't agree in throwing your unsubstantiated allegations around on someone when you don't know whether they are true or not. If you were in a crash, would you like any other folks to be running around and saying it happened because you were drunk if you were not? I don't think so.

I live not even 3 minutes from where the crash happened.. i can't believe none of the kids were in child seats or anything!!! what kind of parent would do that.. a 2 second drive isn't ok without a child locked in... i think there should be charges against every adult in the car for child endangerment!

What on earth is wrong with people??? Three children unrestrained? At that point, there injuries are not an accident in my opinion. They are due to intentional negligence. Nobody is oblivious to the need for child safety seats for children of those ages. The driver and/or parent CHOSE to disregard.

Doesnt matter if she was speeding or not speeding, she should have never ever turned that key without having those babies restrained!!

To "As If" It really doesn't matter if she is the mother or not. She was the driver and as such, she never should have began driving without the kids being properly secured. As the driver you are responsible for the minors in your car.

I have to agree with you "as if" at least someone on here waits for all the facts before judging them and then hanging them before the facts need more people like you!

I feel for all that were involved. I do believe the person that caused the wreck should go to jail & be fined - they failed to stop, nobody in the car was wearing seat belts, someone died... NO EXCUSE!
While you can not force an adult to wear a seat belt you can inform them they will not ride in your car if they don't, they can walk. The children have no option, she is the adult!
Irresponsible, careless, inconsiderate & yes, stupid!

Regardles of ANY other fact, it is a fact that she did not have the children buckled in. I hope the State of Ohio removes the children from her custody, and she rots in prison for vehicular homicide. Disgusting trash that doesn't deserve children.

How do you not put your kids in seatbelts? Sounds like three counts of child endangerment an vehicular homicide to me.

People, let's try to use some common sense here and not make rash judgements! After all it is my cousin Jennifer who is now laying in Grady Hospital with a broken neck and broken back! Yeah, she is lucky to be alive! Yes, the other woman and the father should have never moved the vehicle without properly ensuring all the kids were secure. It's a highly unfortunate accident that could have been prevented. Yet let's be thankful there were not more deaths in the fatal accident. I lost my six year son back in 1999 along with his mother. BOTH WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS! My son's mother also broke her neck and was killed instantly. My son suffered massive injuries to his ribs and chest organs, which he ended up bleeding to death! So expalin that! Yes selt best save lives and these children should have be secured with seltbelt. But only God knows when it's someone's time.

Let's keep the comments to the fact and not place false judgement. I'm just thankful that none of the kids were killed nor my cousin. And while it's easy to place judgement here we have all experienced our own faults behind the wheel...speeding, texting, losing focus, tailgating, running a stop sign, fender benders, etc. Yes the other woman will undoubtedly have some guilt if she lives. She too is in Grady and in very bad shape.

Let's think before we comment! As for my cousin Jennifer, they are taking her in for an MRI to see if they need to operate. She also suffered as few very bad cuts in simple terms.
