While many Christians were celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Sunday, Barack Obama, his family, and everyone else attending St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. received a message that included an attack on conservatives, the Weekly Standard reported.

"It drives me crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling us back ... for blacks to be back in the back of the bus ... for women to be back in the kitchen ... for immigrants to be back on their side of the border," said Dr. Luis Leon.

According to a tweet sent by Reuters' Jeff Mason, the pastor also included a reference to gays in the closet.

The statement angered a number of conservatives.

"What a jerk," Jim Hoft wrote at the Gateway Pundit.

"I guess my expectations are too high to expect otherwise from this president, especially on Easter," said a post at The Right Scoop.

"The day that we are supposed to be reflecting on the glory of the risen Lord, this guy goes and injects politics," said a reader at The Right Scoop.

Another reader said the pastor sounds more like a "DNC hack" and wondered what "happened to 'separation of church and state?'"

A reader at The Blaze said the pastor sounds like a "a wolf amongst the sheep" who really does not know Jesus Christ, and accused him of "preaching hate and division."

An article at the Huffington Post said that the sermon was "based on the Gospel of John and the Resurrection of Jesus." The Huffington Post article did not mention the controversial statement.

'Leon said the message of Easter was about the 'proclamation of victory, the victory of powerful love over loveless power,'" Stacy A. Anderson wrote.

According to church history, every president since James Madison has attended services at St. John's and the church has a dedicated pew for the chief executive.

That's right. Every President before Obama has demanded approval rights for all sermons delivered in their presence.

I wouldn't worry about it.

We are smart enough to raise our kids not to be close minded rednecks like you.

Pres. Obama and I will be fine. You should worry about your kids and how you raise them. I'm sure you're no father of the fkn year yourself.

One at OSU, and one in high school heading to the US Air Force Academy, both conservative to the core. Neither are racists, unlike you and that leech in the White House.

We should be changing hatred into love, vengeance into forgiveness, war into peace. We should be concerned with the weakest and neediest among us and be traveling the paths of justice, love and peace.

Thanks, RS. Yeah, he's hoping to fly. His real goal is NASA, if it ever gets back in business, or barring that, private space ventures. His uncle is an engineer at Bigelow Aerospace, so that's really amped up his interest. And he's following Elon Musk's ventures much as many kids 30 years ago followed Gates and Jobs.
