Update: Wow … just wow:

The same IRS office that deliberately targeted conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status in the run-up to the 2012 election released nine pending confidential applications of conservative groups to ProPublica late last year.

The IRS did not respond to requests Monday following up about that release, and whether it had determined how the applications were sent to ProPublica.
In response to a request for the applications for 67 different nonprofits last November, the Cincinnati office of the IRS sent ProPublica applications or documentation for 31 groups. Nine of those applications had not yet been approved—meaning they were not supposed to be made public.(We madesixof those public, after redacting their financial information, deeming that they were newsworthy.)
It’s amazing that ProPublica is willing to burn its source, at least in a general sense, as the key update that it is. This shows that the aggressive actions from this office were hardly apolitical. All nine of the confidential files involved conservative groups, not just a cross-section of 501(c)4s applying for exemptions. This was a coordinated effort to attack conservative groups, although ProPublica ran their article after the election.

ProPublica is a major lib operation, I wonder if this with the IRS extends to even more offices.

If these scandals don't burn the Ds, we really are done.

When it was Nixon, the Rs were so damaged that according to Haley Barbour, they were considering dropping the name. In Minnesota, they actually did.

And people said we wouldn't have anything to worry about with the IRS monitoring Obamacare!

I would say more than half of us support such an operation. I could be wrong, though. I hope I am.

And judging by today's headlines, I don't think the press is happy with finding out they've been spied upon.

KMOV anchor: The IRS is targeting me

Larry Connors, a veteran local news anchor at KMOV Channel 4 in St. Louis, says that the Internal Revenue Service has been targeting him since an April 2012 interview he conducted with President Obama -- a fact that he dismissed as coincidence until the recent reports about the IRS targeting conservative groups.

"Shortly after I did my April 2012 interview with President Obama, my wife, friends and some viewers suggested that I might need to watch out for the IRS. I don't accept 'conspiracy theories', but I do know that almost immediately after the interview, the IRS started hammering me," Connors wrote on his Facebook page late Monday night.

I'm sure it was no coincidence that a mandated health insurance plan would be monitored by the IRS.

From the looks of his picture, he looks like one of those guys who is been around the St Louis Media forever. It would be like the IRS going after Bob Connors.

For all you leftists who think we conservative and libertarian types are crazy, this is exactly what we're afraid of. Too much money and power in government Hands and sooner or later it gets turned against the citizenry. Not to mention the fact that the so-called good government types can't stand any differences of opinion. The only way they can ever get their way is to do things under the cover of darkness or by judicial fiat. Pathetic.

But that's what people get when they treat a presidential election as another version of American Idol and elect a lightweight with zero experience an affirmative action all the way in order to put some salve on their faux white guilt.

I hope when conservatives get the reigns of government that we get some Ted Cruz type in charge who will go after these Alinski-types with just as much zeal as they've gone after us. Ted Cruz have some Rhino tendencies but at least he's tough word counts.

I hate these dumbass Republicans who want to do everything on the up and up. don't remember history? Don't remember how the insurgency ran rings around British troops because they were so staid and regimented?

Putting Obama care under the control of the IRS gives the feds the ability to lien and seize assets.

In addition you can not declare bankruptcy of the fed.

Yep. Larry Connors has been in the St. Louis market for 38 years, the last 27 of which have been as anchor at KMOV.
