So Rhino thinks 40M uninsured is a false concern. What a fckn dumb ass response.

Oblamocare was sold on lowering cost for all and providing insurance to the uninsured. Best estimate three years ago, 10M-20M would remain uninsured even with Oblamocare.

Looks like that was another false statement.

No. He was telling you to stop pretending like you care about people being uninsured. Are you really that dumb or are you being obtuse on purpose?

He's the one who is on this board pretending to care.

What do you think President Obama should be doing to help the uninsured?

No, he's pointing out the hypocrisy of someone who pretended to care. I don't believe he claimed once that he cared.

Maybe with a hybrid system like the Japanese one in the middle to bridge the gap if folks stay too cowardly to help ease them along.
They won't. Politicians are too dependent on the profits of the corporations (and donations from their lobbyists) who will make out from this deal. Single-payer would cut into that.

I think it's in the cards, but that it'll have to wait till people in the US are less afraid of it. I think being "the last industrialized nation without..." is going to wear thin against the cutting edge of American exceptionalisim, eventually. I wish there could just be a clean jump to it, but with the incredibly large amount of profit that's been built into American healthcare, I see why they may want to kill the beast slowly, in degrees.

I was just talking to a friend back home who had to postpone a visit out here because he had suffered an ATV accident (it sounded pretty horrible) that resulted in hand surgery, leaving him with a massive load of debt to climb out from under, even with insurance. It just boggles me that such a great group of people, with so much common sense and concern for others is fine with living one accident or illness from financial insecurity.

In other words, you don't give a shit about the poor not being insured. Because it's Obama, you're outraged.

If the poor can't afford medical care then they should do without. There is no logical reason for me to pay for their medical care.

Do you realize that the person who you constantly rail against here is the one politician that has accomplished ANYTHING close to moving away from a healthcare delivery system based solely on profit? You are cutting your own throat.

The only exception to that would be if you were the direct cause of their illness or injury, and in those cases, the onus should be only on the responsible individual, not all of society.

And you are fighting human nature, and wasting a lot of resources to do it. Capitalism is superior because it works WITH human nature, not against it. You can't build wealth without providing opportunity for others, even unintentionally. You can interfere with the process, however, and thereby create obstacles for those others.

WTF are you talking about? You think the ACA wasn't profit-motivated? Who in your family or close friends (oh, sorry) is a medical care provider? WHO? Have you talked ot them lately? Do you realize that most insurance companies ALREADY MET the standards for percentage spent on health care? Do you realize how much the taxpayers are in the hole for this boondoggle?

Instead of worrying about what other people say so that you can jump on them, try reading in your spare time. You certainly have lots of it.

It's so desperate to have a life that it just jumps on anything that moves. Pathetic.
