Obamacare brings coverage to at least 9.5 million
by Joan McCarter
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/03/31/1288...

On the last day for health insurance enrollment under the launch of Obamcare, millions more people have obtained health insurance, either directly through the exchanges or outside them, through Medicaid, and by staying on family plans. Based on state and federal reports, surveys and information from insurance executives, the Los Angeles Times estimates that at least 9.5 million previously uninsured people are now covered.
That includes:

At least six million in the new marketplaces, about 2 million of which were previously uninsured, a share that probably increased this month;
At least 4.5 million signed up through Medicaid or SCHIP (the children's health program+) either through expansion or discovering their eligibility when applying for private insurance—this means more on Medicaid in states that didn't accept the expansion;
At least three million young people, up to age 26, have gained coverage on their parents plans;
About nine million previously insured people have purchased new plans outside of the exchange. And, in a crushing blow to the Kochs and their minions, fewer than one million who had substandard plans in 2013 which were cancelled are now uninsured, compared to the five or six or even seven million the Kochs et al. claim. That's based on a Rand survey. The Republican claim that there has been a net decline in coverage because of cancellations is "not supported by survey data or insurance companies, many of which report they have retained the vast majority of their 2013 customers by renewing old policies, which is permitted in about half the states, or by moving customers to new plans."

These numbers are cautious, most well below Charles Gaba's (Brainwrap's) predictions of 13.1-16.8 million. To date, Gaba has been remarkably accurate in his forecasting at ACASignups.net . Gaba predicts that enrollments through the exchanges will hit at least 6.8 million, possibly 7 million before the end of the day. He counts between 4.7 and 6.5 new Medicaid/CHIP enrolled and 2.5 to 3.1 million young adults on their family's plans.

All of which is a big ol' problem for the GOP. Obamacare not collapse under its own weight, as they predicted. People did want to sign up for affordable health insurance, contrary to their deeply held belief. And the fact that they're still beating the repeal drum makes them look more out of touch than ever. If they really want to run on Obamacare in 2014, well, good luck to them with that.

Dishonest Fox Charts: Obamacare Enrollment Edition
Blog ››› 3 hours and 49 minutes ago ››› SAMANTHA WYATT
http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/03/31/disho...

Fox News showed a dramatically skewed chart to suggest enrollment for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) would come up far short of the initial estimate of 7 million enrollees.

On March 27, health insurance enrollment through the ACA's exchanges surpassed 6 million, exceeding the revised estimate of enrollees for the program's first year before the March 31 open enrollment deadline. Enrollment appears on track to hit the Congressional Budget Office's initial estimate of 7 million sign-ups, and taking Medicaid enrollees into account, the ACA will have reportedly extended health care coverage to at least 9.5 million previously uninsured individuals.

Fox celebrated the final day of open enrollment by attempting to somehow twist the recent enrollment surge into bad news for the law.

The difference between the March 27 enrollment figure and CBO's original estimate of 7 million enrollees is slightly less than 1 million, which Fox itself acknowledged with a more accurate representation the previous day on Sunday Morning Futures:

This attempt to misrepresent data is nothing new for Fox, which has a history of using dishonest charts to smear the Obama administration.

If the bs you are quoting is true it's just another sad day in the 6 year decline of this once great nation. I didn't sign up nor will I. It's unbelievable that there is that many sad individuals that have been allowed to reproduce and stay on welfare for generations. In twenty years this will be a third world country, how sad.

Gawd.

"Joe Swedish the CEO of WelllPoint Inc., said recently that enrollment in the Obamacare exchanges went according to his company’s expectations and that he expects double-digit premium hikes in the Obamacare exchanges next year.

“There will undoubtedly be remarkable price increases,” Swedish told Modern Healthcare magazine, yet added that the demographic mix of WellPoint's new enrollees “has turned out how we expected.”

"A McKinsey and Co. survey earlier this month found 27 percent of those signing up for exchange coverage were uninsured in the past year. Gallup this month reported that the uninsured rate dropped from 17.1 percent in the last quarter of 2013 to 15.9 percent in the first quarter of 2014."

You see my lib friends, you can sign up for your phone, food stamps, section 8 housing and many other of your entitlements but for most of the health insurance sign ups you must pay first.

You should also take into account all those responsible Americans that had their policies canceled due to the lies Oblamo spread. That was somewhere around 7M.

I understand your rush to find something that has worked well under Oblamo's reign but this is far from definite data.

So although it took 6 weeks to get any data and they can't still tell how many have paid the administration at midnight can tell us how many signed up.

Hearing this "success" reminds me of the unemployment rate.
Economic experts state that to really effect the unemployment rate you must add 200K of jobs/month yet under Oblamo's reign of terror only 44K have been added per month. Yet the unemployment rate has dropped.
Then last month more than 44K were added and the unemployment rate rose.
Like most of the other info that comes from this administration, this too is very suspect.

Save your premiums payment and buy ammo I'm sure it will be a far better investment for your health and safety of your family. In the future there will come a time for deregulation of government.

we spent billions to kick off more insured people to insure those who had their hands out.

epic failure is the only description of Obamacare, and the national polls agree.

Expect this boondoggle erased 2/2015.

now go get a job and pay for your own expenses.
