Do you collect language books? Like to compare languages? Know anyone who does? There are two books that came out on Lulu Press ( Lulu.com ) on Early Virginia languages that are being reconstructed and revitalized today. This includes a Tutelo-Saponi (Yesanechi) dictionary, and a Nottoway (Cheroenhaka) dictionary, both ridiculously cheap, whether instant download or paperback order. These books have a rich supply of vocabulary from other Native languages as well. They make a fine gift, tell your hip friends too! http://www.lulu.com/shop/william-meuse/tutelo...

These are essential works for any seriously cunning linguist. They are so ridiculously cheap that I bought both the instant download and the paperback copies of both volumes. My only complaint is there is no DVD version.

I met a white girl named Lulu.
Her brother, she said was a Zulu.
I retorted "That's odd",
and she barked with a nod
"If you don't think its true, well then screw you".

I'm having a pretty hard time working out why anyone working on groundbreaking early American linguistic groups would be publishing with Lulu...

...university presses, ftw.

Because, the convenience of modern Web 2.0 over traditional publishing is the way of the future! It costs absolutely nothing to publish on Lulu, but I make a return for every copy sold. Can't go wrong there. This allows me to offer the books more cheaply than possible with a prestigious publisher, allowing more people to afford them. If a university press wanted to pick it up though, I'd be willing to listen.

If you think trying to self promote a vanity press publication via trawling unrelated forums is the best way to get research out there, you probably know best.

I've always opted for publishing across open access journals and old fashioned pubs myself, though.
