Sounds like business as usual on Lane Avenue. No sales price on title... No taxes paid. Hmmm. Did Sweater VestMan also get freebies? Urban Meyers is coming to town real soon.

Good article. This sounds like reasonable information for the Ohio's Attorney General to investigate Kniffen, based on possible misrepresentation of sales price on legal documents. The question will be whether tOSU's huge political clout will block elected officials' desire to pursue this?

Is this another indication that Tressel's program is in shambles? Is it time for the University to put its reputation above a coach, even if he has a winning record?

These Dispatch reporters have way too much time on their hands....

I happen to know Jon Deibler's family personally. To insinuate they did something illegal and publish their name without any more facts than that...well it is just headline grabbing and disgusting....just trying to sell more papers. That is just disgusting. I am done giving them web clicks.

Who knows what will come of this but it sounds like if they dig hard enough they might find something pretty ugly. Watching all of this go down is like watching the maffia fall apart in Casino. I hope OSU doesn't get a ban that would be terrible for the Big Ten.

Um, I think they needed to include Diebler so that the list was....let me say, a little more "diverse". Without Diebler on the list, every other athlete would have fit a certain, "profile", as it were. Just sayin'.

There is no federal sales tax but the state dept. of revenue will be looking at this.

I agree with the stupidity comment.

The problem STARTS with the school's association with 30 or more car dealers who get season tickets and publicity in football programs in exchange for providing cars to coaches and other athletic department staff. I guess you could call this trickle down perks ... or corruption.

This a practice may have been okay 30 years ago when coaches were making stones but now with the money they are ALL making, this should be totally discontinued. With $3 million in cash compensation, you would think Tressel could afford to buy his cars.

wake up amd smell the coffee. whenever people buy used cars, especially used cars from private owmers, the price on the title never reflects the true price paid for the car. this is done to reduce the amount of tax to be paid. i'm sure or hope that these dispatch reporters were smart enough to figure this out before trying to cause more crap for the football program. maybe they should worry more about the drugs and guns the teenage gangs in columbus are involved in. you know, something really importaant!!!!

Where do you tuink they get the idea for "Car Deals"?
From thier coaches who drive free "loaner" cars from Columbus area car dealers. You see your coach tooling around in a $50,000 plus car for FREE how are you supposed to think and be influenced. It's time for OSU to do some inner soul searching on what tahletics has become. It no longer build character and leaders for tomorrow. NCAA also needs to look within on what it has allowed. All BIG TEN coaches can get free cars loaned to them and it's not a violation.
We also need a way to grant student athletes an allowance so they can live and not be lured into such schemes.
