How much did GC have to pay high priced lawyers to fight this and why isn't anyone being charged ?? It sounds too much like a cover up.
Ike Stage is a banker and has been all his adult life having been VP of the Huntington and several other banks up to and including the Citizens Bank of Ashville where by the way they have their own issues with a long term employee and some money "missing" ???? Maybe Ike isn't so good woth money and shouldn't be Mayor since he claims to have just learned about the need for "Checks & Balances" .......(DUH)

Do you ever read the entire article or do you just stop at the headline? It clearly states $105K was paid to Dunn (their attorney)- you're on here all the time blabbering your nonsense ... get more coffee in you before you post or lay of the gin and juice!

There is a natural tendency to move on from crime scenes— for the same reason there are so many hit-and-run traffic accidents. But there is a more general tendency to want to see the guilty punished. Moveon.Ike should think carefully about which he wants to do. I would suggest he pull over to the curb.

Another testimony to equal justice under the law. No charges and fines waived. Would that happen to John Q Public for 1 tenth that amount? Don't think so

[My question is why in the H does this atty deserve $105,000 in atty fees.
I think that this gal should have this the $105,000 deducted from her pension acct along with the money she took. After that refund the money to her that was deducted from her check. If there is any left. pay her and send her on her way.

You know this is what would happen to us. I don't think she should go to jail if she has paid all the money and fees back.

There has to be a message that says. "You are working for us and not yourself. This should go all the way to the top.

Is GC proceeding against Kincade to recoup what they are out ?? Attach her property -- attach her pension if possible -- take anything you can. I see no argument for "mercy" here - she was a calculated thief. If the city is not taking every step possible to recover from her, those officials are committing malfeasance in office and should be recalled.

They should be thankful I don't live in GC - I would be at every council meeting screaming for them to get off their butts and do something.

What a crock.

Sounds to me the city owes a refund to the tax payers since the $700,000 was not used for its intended legal purpose. Maybe a good lawyer could get you back your unspent tax money?

Okay, so is Kincaid being prosecuted??? What is being done about this? GC is known for sweeping things under the rug. Oh and if you do something illegal just retire. It has happened a few times in GC. This is ridiculous. I wonder if this woman was used as a scapegoat. Why else would they not prosecute?

Why the heck would the IRS waive $700K in penalties and interest that GC owed. Payroll taxes are timely payments of income taxes on wages. There is a time value of money! President Obama has proposed a budget that will spend $1.6 TRILLION more than it takes in. This is at a time where the federal government has a $14.6 TRILLION deficit.

Why wouldn't GC go after the company that bonded their employee? Or, don't they have insurance covering employee theft? All other businesses do!

Lastly, GC has taxing authority. If they need to cover the $700K somehow, so be it.

The employee at the IRS who "waived" the $700K GC was assessed should be fired, because as one of the 52% of people who actually pay taxes I'm the ones who will have to make it up.

Not sure who has the money, who had the money or who spent the money. But once the State Auditor is finished, someone or somebodies are going to jail.

Everyone is ont eh right track here. Follow the money and remember it is an election year.

Kincade worked for both Ike and Grossman, whom he made. She ( Grossman) was previously president of the garden club before Ike got her into council, and then decided not to run at the last minute giving her a shoe in as mayor aainst Linda Lanham. Anybody remember that?

The repeated violation of checks and balances is a patter and practice of the city and has been reportd by several auditors. The administration simply has done nothing about it. The election of the mayor is coming and we need a new one. Ike also finances all of the deals approved in council, isn't that a conflict??

The homer politics need to be over. Lets elect some new leaders!!

Why didn't the reporter investigate why the IRS decided to ignore a $700,000 penalty. No wonder this country is broke.

This story is lame.

Once again, they tru and pin the blame on Kincade.

20 checks from payroll ? Maybe they were her payroll checks. Didn't say they wre illegal checks or unauthorized.

IKE still playing Casey Jones.
