Yeah, I don't really get that. It's often interesting to to hear people talk about their faith or how the view other faiths, but I think arguing about someone's personal faith makes as much sense as arguing with someone about an imaginary friend. The nature of faith in the intangible means it's wonderfully unsatisfying to bicker about.
I don't see it as arguing. I see it as encouraging them to say ridiculous things.

There's not a shred of historical evidence outside of the biblical mythos that he ever really existed. 800 wives...yeah right! There was no viagra in Judea at that time!

Oh, if you're into people saying stupid things, there are plenty of great places to source that without having to have a go at someone's faith, or without even having to engage (unless that's part of the charm?). I discovered MRAs online last year and they're proper, top shelf stupid, all the time. Just running a quick search for MRA forums should get you all the delicious stupid you could ever want.

Let me guess...you attend Reader's church where the pew Bibles have been replaced with Reader's Revised Version of the Formerly Holy Scriptures [as interpreted by the Humanist Manifesto].

She always hated the Apostle Paul, too.

I don't believe in a religion.
I believe in Jesus Christ, whose earthly birth, ministry, death, resurrection and return were foretold and prefigured throughout the Old Testament, and absolutely fulfilled by the New. Unified, they weave a perfect tapestry displaying God's plan of eternal redemption.
You believe in religion, alright...the Christian religion! The NT prophecies were created by a method of selecting certain verses and passages in the OT and attributing them to figures who were created in the NT! Not very hard to do when you call Ecumenical councils and have your brightest scholars rewrite and plagiarize.

Historians and archaeologists vehemently disagree with you.

The Bible easily passes internal, external and bibliographic tests for ancient texts. It is supported by 24,000+ different copies, the earliest of which was written a mere 25 years after the original.

To put this fact into perspective, consider that Cornelius Tacitus' "Annals" is considered an accurate account of the 1st century Roman Empire...when only 20 copies exist, the earliest of which was written 1,000 years after the original. Interestingly, the works of Sophocles have 193 different copies for comparison -- and that amount reflects one of the highest numbers of copies you will see in regard to other ancient texts. Yet, amazingly, the earliest of these was written 1,400 years after the original.

In other words, there is more historical and archaeological evidence to support the Bible than any other historical text.

"...it may be safely said that no other work of antiquity has been so accurately transmitted."

-- William Green

Both history and archaeology prove Jesus' existence and death.
Josephus even referenced Jesus' resurrection.

The Bible, as a set of ancient manuscripts, is considered the gold standard when it comes to preservation. As such, there is every reason to believe the words contained therein.

When an average citizen dies, the world does not long remember him or her.
In fact, only family and close friends do.

The death of a 33-year-old Jewish carpenter from a small town in ancient Israel, however, has impacted the entire world from the 1st to the 21st century.

Again, even the Quran mentions Jesus Christ [and Kings David and Solomon, by the way].
Note, however, that God's Word never foretold of a great prophet named Mohammed.
