Not so fast, deacon! The Dead Sea scrolls were written by a ultra orthodox militant group of Judaites who hated Roman domination of their land, and was searching the OT to see warrior/ king" Messiah" ,who would lead them in a final victory battle to rid them of the Roman yoke. It was NOT ABOUT the person you think named Jesus! That name didn't exist in ancient Judea. There are no J' s in the Hebrew or Aramaic language. The J came at the time of the Yiddish in Europe. Yehoshua would've been a common male name and is very similar to Yoshua (or Joseph).Jesus is an invented Latin name from the Greek name Iesous.<quoted text>
Not so, rowdy. Do some research.
When the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947 -- having been written 1,000 years earlier than the oldest-known biblical manuscript of the time -- the two were discovered to be virtually identical. But, this fact can surprise no one.
"The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever."
Simple logic informs that a just God would not leave His creation without His message of salvation, thus condemning them to eternal judgment.
The Jesus of the NT would not have fit the warrior" savior" King that the Yehudis were waiting to lead them. The Maccabees were the last warrior Yehudis that attacked Rome and defeated them for a short time. In 69 or 70 AD, the Roman general Titus led a Roman force into Jerusalem and crushed all Yehudi militants, and carried the huge seven candle minora back to Rome as a trophy. He and his Father and brother took control of Rome after Nero committed suicide.
It was a short time after that, the invention of a soft, anti- violent, turn the other cheek figure of JESUS took place with the help of a turn- coat Yehudi named Josephus. The new Emperor Titus Vespasian set out to burn every piece of ( Jew) literature except for an OT scroll.
The Dead Sea scrolls were hidden in a hurry by the militant (Jews) who fought against Rome, and is the only surviving ancient Hebrew writing that wasn't found by the Roman army. It wasn't speaking of no limp, helpless, jew hanging on a Roman execution device.
Furthermore, crucifixion was reserved for the (Jewish) rebels as a warning to the rest if they dare challenge Rome! There's no way Jesus (if he was real) would've been put on a crucifix because of a bunch of internal jew arguments.
Matthew 5:39 (turn the other cheek) was deliberately added, as well as "Give unto Ceasar" and all the rest of the pro- Roman quotes.
Why do you think the (Jew) never ceased to wait for THEIR messiah? They know that Christianity was invented by the Romans for the European nations. How do you think it spread so rapidly in Europe? They allowed the pagan tribes throughout Europe to add their concepts as well, to keep the peace. Rome is the only ancient country that has never fell to another nation, and their created religion is still going strong.
