No link shown between Aspergers and the kind of violent behavior seen in Connecticut.

It will likely be found that Lanza had a co-occuring mental/emotional disorder to account for his murderous/suicidal tendancies. Think more in terms of schizophrenia--which tends to emerge in the early 20s.

I'm not real big on handing guns out to anyone who asks, but mis-identifying groups as being problematic is not an improvement.

And while we are about offering up solutions, how about improved access to treatment for all persons with mental/emotional difficulties?

No.

These people are extreme geeks and nerds, super intelligent but angry tool making them walking time bombs ready to explode.

Dykan Kelbod, Harris, Colorado movie freak and Lanza were all like this, outcast and werid people who are dangerous. Beware the geek.

I think combine outcast people with secular morality and this is what you sometimes get.

But, there have always been things like this going on. Kehoe in the 1920's, for example. The difference today is all the noise thanks to cable TV, the internet and news. It makes it seem more pervasive and closer than it really is.

How much faith do you people place in Jewish shrinks and the "disorder" industry?
It seems like everything's a disorder these days.
They claim everybody is mentally ill. Sounds like a scam to sell meds.
I need to know more.
Say, Bob, isn't the Eastern Orthodox Santa still watching you?

I don't think it takes much of a shrink, Jewish or otherwise, to figure that Lanza had something profoundly wrong with him.

Aspergers has been previously linked to violent outbreaks of this type--according to the expert that I read.

My problem with these sorts of solutions is that even if they work well backwards they don't have the same predictive value when worked frontwards (100% of shooters had X =/= 100% of people with X are shooters).

I tend to question the whole notion that we can divide the population neatly (as NRA suggests) into good and bad, or safe and unsafe persons. Trying to base a policy on such suppositions is an exercise in futility--and pure fantasy.

Jewish (retailer) Christmas is over ... from here on out, it's just family events and calorie counting.

It doesn't end until Epiphany, which is toward the third week of January.

I don't know the good or bad, or the ups and downs of any of this stuff. I just cringe when I hear practically every behavioral trait classified as a disorder and so many gullible people buying into it ... I cringe in kind of in the same way "alcoholism is a disease" and "alcohol is a drug" mantras get chanted.

I find all this stuff insulting, actually.

There is no doubt that some people do have serious problems, and shrinks can help them ... but it is a very inexact science. Like everything else, I think it boils down more to art and if you have a knack for it.

I have a newphew who has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

He's a nice young man, but can get angry and is socially unable to cope with situations, those unaffected take for granted.

Would you want your socially developed 7-9 yer old owning a firearm? Well, this is the question that must be asked, because this is the reality we are faced with.

My answer is a definite NO!

Yes they should have any gun they can buy at reasonable market set prices. These people are not crazy. Just not socialable most.of the time. They make great neighbors because they respect private property unlike the democrat trash that believe they can go where they please.

Anyone who voted for Obama or any other democrat should not be allowed firearms.

Disarm Diversity people.

All Diversity people belong to a national victim cult, in both mind and in political action.

Diversity people have a deeply cultivated sense of entitlement, and are responsible for the police state that is in place.

Force Diversity people to depend exclusively for their security on the police state they helped to create to protect their privileges.

Diversity people are responsible for most of the violent crime in the US. Asperger Syndrome is not a goos indicator of criminal disposition; Diversity status is a very good indicator of criminal disposition, and FBI statistics verify this as a fact.

You can't associate everyone with Aspergers as being mentally ill. I have Aspergers and am perfectly fine. You are just stereotyped bigots if you think that we are all like Lanza. I have been around guns since age 3, have gone hunting, shooting, and am a more responsible gun owner than most people on this site are. And Worried Mom: don't let your your worrying make you become mindless and make you limit the rights of those like me. You know what, I get worried too, for my own safety. That's why I should be allowed to have a gun. Maybe stupid people like you who have IQs below 140 (a problem that I don't have) shouldn't be allowed to own guns? Maybe someone who makes irrational judgements that put people in danger, just because you aren't smart enough to know that people like myself aren't crazy, shouldn't be allowed to have guns? Maybe you shouldn't even be Allowed to vote?

If it is made illegal for those with Aspergers to buy guns I will buy them illegally. I shouldn't be under the control of those who age IQs lower than mine, and I have every right to protect myself as well as hunt or just go shooting with the boys.
