It is the new normal for no one to be held accountable, in public office or private business. In private commerce, if anyone is called down for a mistake that costs others, it's immediately bigotry or racism. Seems like everyone falls into some protective minority status other than white males.
And the division it has brought about is staggering and dangerous.
George, I truly think it will take a catastrophic event to bring this country together and wake it up. I'm almost to the point of thinking it would be better to set some states off as liberal, the conservatives take the others and operate independently.
I think it's too far gone for long term (100+ years) unity at this point. An amicable divorce is the best solution, IMO.
In 2002, if somebody had told you that six years in the future, a man named Barack Hussein Obama would be elected president, a mosque would be under construction two blocks from Ground Zero and that location would still be nothing more than a hole in the ground, you would have called the men in the white coats.
Nothing less than a full scale foreign invasion of this country could ever unify us. And even then, I wouldn't bet my life on it.

Why are you all so nachalante racist/bigoted/etc? I don't understand it. Who the fuck cares if a mosque is in construction, it isn't the religous idealogoly that attacked us, it's single minded extremists (like you).
If this country splits apart under its current turmoil, political affiliations aside, you can pretty much write us off as doomed. A few democratic gains on the political spectrum does not relegate our society to socialistic. Stop acting like its the end of the fucking world just because it will be near impossible to gain back the liberty we sacrificed for those programs and for the majority (ironically dubbed minorities) benefit. Better to argue for the defense of personal liberty in general, and set aside your party bias.
Do any of you argue about the liberties we've sacrificed for the conservative cause? Don't tell me the airport scans/frisks were the democrats idea. What about the patriot act? indefinite detention? complete disregard to personal privacy? or anything along those lines. Its a bipartisan problem that SHOULD be blamed on big government. Big government USED to be a party problem (namely democratic), but you might as well share the blame at this point. Who was the last president to protect civil liberties? To protect the individual over the society? The government is a beast that will consume until it eats enough of the private sector to self-destruct... and it's not the democrats to blame, its the fucking feds, the congress, the courts, our whole fucking bipolar government. They go from progressive to inactive in a blink of an eye, ask for more and more funding every year regardless of results or consequence, and consume more and more private enterprise in the process.
If you want change stop wading through misguided party politics, its misdirection and will get us further and further from the rights of the individual into the realm of "governing" the society and majority.
I don't really know what I was trying to say, but fuck this, I literally disagree and despise almost every post from any and all of you. Why can't you unify under the correct pretenses? I swear if I read one more racial or political slur my head will fucking explode. KEEP TO THE FACTS AND THE REALITY BEFORE US OR YOU WILL BE WRITTEN OFF BY THE EDUCATED FOR YOUR MISGUIDED ATTEMPTS AT POLITICAL INTERCOURSE. Good day sirs and misses. God bless and help us all.
And anymore talk of "amicable divorce" or the splitting of our fucking country will be met with "What the fuck are you even saying?".
Political diversity was designed into our government from the founding. It may not have been a flat two party system system then, but it was designed to spur polarized arguement. Want to know why? Because two political extremes yelling at each other over semantics will lead to a mutual compromise for the betterment of us all. That whole primitive "butting heads" politics was DESIGNED into our democracry for expediant results. We didn't want to be tied up forever like Britians parliament or multi-party systems. But for the love of our great nation don't buy into it wholeheartedly and talk about forming a new nation, the founding fathers would spit on you for your audacity. This (near) 50/50 political divide among our country was actually a perogative, something long sought after. I admit its not working out well so far, democrats are making all the power plays and the compromises are far from promising... but to talk about breaking away from the UNITED states of America is fucking ridiculous.
That's what they said in the 1800's, too. Those who believe in the status quo are the first surprised when something happens.

Anyway, back to what you were saying:

Great command of the English language! Makes you look so very intelligent. Even if you had a point, the fact that you can't speak without vulgarities kinda nullifies it.

In 1775, you would have been called a Tory. In 2013, you're a dhimmi. In both centuries, you're woefully ignorant and uninformed.

Hugh you'd turn on any part of Ohio if the situation promoted it. You'd talk down to the south, the north, the minorities, the majorities, anything. You prove it every day you post here... always a new enemy.

If I recall indefinite detention is now congressionally halted... correct?

And whothefuckcares about vulgarities, what does it matter? I'm not directing them at anybody, it's a hell of a lot less offensive than everyones racial slurs.

If you have been here any length of time, you know where I stand. And it's always been a consistent stand. The fact that you call me, "Hugh," tells me you haven't been here very long.

I'd have to agree with that, as a NEO resident. Well, except for the fishing, but there's more than one great lake.
