Spook pretty much just summed things up. If you want to slam the government, look for the intersection of unpopular causes.

I looked at the article and also googled the topic. A number of rags ran with the same, or similar, headlines, but none provided any link to something really helpful, like the research proprosal. So, it is difficult to see how the juncture of lesbianism and obesity play out in terms of the $1.5 million.

Never mind that obesity is a serious condition, one of the chronic ones that is reaching epidemic proportions and driving health care costs upward--in particular because of its relationship to other biggies: heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and so forth.

Never mind that one way researchers start to figure things out is by looking a differences by population groups between those with high and low incidence of whatever it is that they are studying.

And, of course, they could provide a pic of just any obese female, now could they? No, they had to pick Rosy O'Donnell.

How about you come back when you have something factual behind your inflammatory stuff, hey?

The study is real, and it's stupid.

We know why people are fat, and it's not because of spoons.

If you're so smart, then how come nobody's giving you $1.5? Hmmm?

A. I'm not a researcher

B. I would produce politically incorrect results

Can tell you're not a researcher.

The role of ethical research is not to provide results in line with or opposed to any political agenda.

Government funded research? And you really buy that BS?

Fat lesbians have the same problem as any fat person.

A. You can't beat your genes.
B. You take in way more calories then you burn.

If fat parents had to be submitted over and over to films of fat kids being teased and bullied, MAYBE they would change their and their kids eating habits. MAYBE. Gluttonly is a sin right there with drunkeness In fact, one of the seven deadly sins.

Impossible.

Every twice-used piece of Progressive trash swears homosexuals are "born that way."
In Progressive World, one can change one's biological gender [either by declaring it changed, or by actual surgical mutilation]...BUT one cannot ever change one's "god-given" sexual orientation.

Amazing stuff.

Maybe lesibans wouldn't be so fat if they would stop eating all of those fish tacos. Think about it.

I think then that this piece of research would tend to fall under topic A, more or less.

The question would be whether there are certain inborn traits (physical or otherwise) impacting obesity. It happens that the researchers have identified a discrete group (female homosexuals) who have a higher than the norm incidence of obesity.

Or, I suppose you could try to follow your line of thinking with regard to gluttony and morality. Just so gosh-darn hard to come up with a definitive test to identify a moral population slice. Not to mention, that research would hardly be immune to hair-on-fire headlines about wasteful government spending either.

Like the research on health reform and its impact, right?
