I understand the positive aspects of this, but the negative ones and the messages sent outweigh the positives, in my opinion.
What negative aspects are attached to gay people doing the same things that are considered positive is straight people do them?

Living productive lives.
Forming healthy relationships.
Falling in love.
Marrying.
Forming strong supportive families.

Really, if you want to prevent only the gay kids from learning about and living these values, you are going to have to stop teaching them to ALL kids, because the gay ones are listening, too.

And if you do not want gay folks from embracing these values, what alternative are you suggesting?

Why would you think that? I don't know ANY gay folks who fit that bill, but maybe I hang around with a different crowd than you do.

I do know that many gay people, from childhood on, experience a great deal of pain from the very people that are supposed to love them unconditionally, and that can cause lasting harm.

Being gay does no more harm to a person than being straight. How we are treated can and does make lasting impressions.

Do you believe that making life a living hell for gay kids causes some of them to be "miserable" if they manage to grow up? And what would you believe the correct solution to be?

That's not what I asked you.

You applied part of the Holiness Code against gay folks. Do you follow the rest of it yourself?

It's a simple question.

As much as I laughed at the whole concept at first, many of you people would be well-served by listening to EWTN - Catholic Radio. I myself am surprised how much you can learn from some of their programs. It really gives you a different perspective than most of the holy roller religious programming you see and hear in the media.
I doubt many gay folks will be listening to Catholic radio for enlightenment, as long as the Pope keeps telling the world that we, our children, and our very families, are a cancer on society.

Now, I listen to a wide variety of programs, right, left, and center, and have learned many things from them, though not always what the creators of the programs might have intended.

I did'say anything about gay folks.I said IN THE BIBLE Leviticus tells us how we should live.I did'nt state my religion.I SAID I will be judged on how I live my life not on how YOU or ANYONE else lives their life. What part did'nt you understand?

I think it goes back to what I said before ... that the Bible isn't best interpreted as a punitive set of rules to keep you from doing things ... it is best interpreted as an instruction manual to life. If you do the things it says, generally speaking your life turns out better than if you don;t.
As to closet cases ... I wouldn't want to be stuck with one, but it seems to work for Travolta.
I suspect that might have more to do with conditions in Ohio than with gay orientation. lol

btw, "Bob". You're a refreshingly cogent discussant. Why not become a TOPIX member? We sure could use some clear and polite debaters around here ... even if they are part of our opposition.

And again, far be it from me to tell them who or where to stick their anatomy parts in ......

I have no problem with gays. The BIG PROBLEM I have is with all the do-do's out there who think it's okay, and fun, and sexy, and hot, and erotic to experiment with this lifestyle. And make no mistake, this has happened all over the place. All this does is ruin people. Ruins their ability to form relationships and ruins lives. I have yet to either see a swinger or one of these people who experiment whose lives are completely in order.

I believe most things operate on some kind of a bell curve. The ones that are gay? Fine. I accept that. The ones that are marginal need to be slapped back into shape.

WHY?

Repeating. The Bible is not a book of do's and don'ts in a punitive sense the way I look at it. It is an instruction manual, which if you follow keeps your life in order and humming along smoothly and without drama.

Most gays I know are miserable nut jobs. I am a lawyer and I've dealt with a fair share of them. Some nice, some not ... most nut jobs.

If they want to marry, fine. No skin off my nose if the government collects license fees from them.

Based on my knowledge of human beings AND the common sense wisdom of the Bible, however, I seriously doubt a government license is going to make them happier or more well adjusted.

We are living in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah. Those who choose to be degenerates and go against God's Word will have all of eternity to pay for it.
Read your Bibles, Old and New Testament, folks. Homosexuality is an abomination and such a nasty choice. Repulsive.
That is absolutely true by God's law and research as well.

A new study which analyzed tens of thousands of gay obituaries and compared them with ALDS death data from the Center for Disease Control has shown that the life expectancy for male homosexuals is about twenty years shorter than that of the general public. The study entitled Gay Obituaries closely track officially reported deaths from AIDS has been published in Psychological Reports 2005 96 693 697.

In an interview with lifesitenews com, Doctor Paul Cameron the President of the Family Research Institute and the scientist who headed the study indicated that he was not at all surprised by the findings and that it only served as further confirmation for what has long been known and other studies have already shown.
Corresponding almost exactly with Cameron's study, the Vancouver Study indicated that life expectancy for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men.

20 years off your life shows that there is a high cost for low living, despite what our drive by liberal media says.

I suggest that children be brought up to have the highest standards for themselves.

A little well-placed snobbery is good for everybody. One of the reasons I was never even tempted to try pot ... all the dirtballs were the ones doing that back in my time and day.

LMAO...You folks kill me.
Given the repercussions, almost all negative as far as society, family etc. etc. that many gay folks endure, I highly doubt that being gay is a "choice".
As a heterosexual male I can not even imagine why someone would choose to be gay......
I do have to wonder frankly, about the orientation of anyone that could believe that being gay is a "choice".........
Frankly again, I believe there are a lot of other things going on right now that folks should be worried about.......
The worst thing that is likely to happen to you is having some gay folks move into your neighborhood and drive the property values up.....LOL

I do believe some people are made that way. Either their wires are crossed, or as I jokingly say maybe they are sexually dyslexic. Who knows? It's like the old "knighher in the woodpile" saying. They have been around throughout humanity

God gave them a roadmap of how to stay happy and, as you point out, healthy. If they want to follow the road map, fine. If not, they can do what they want.

My point is that someone needs to tell them that there is such a thing as a road map and it does work. Their wisdom comes from Supreme Court rulings - they don't even have a clue.

LOL ... you caught me in a good mood today. Other days, I'm a very bad boy, which is part of the fun of being on the internet.

We have a problem with a stalker on the Columbus board getting people booted, along with the geeks from Top Mod 8. I've lost so many accounts due to people manipulating the moderation system, I just gave up registration.

Seriously, I may make jokes but I generally have no problem with gays.

The word of God says a lot of things......I have a very long history with it.....

It is a book that also contradicts itself fairly often.

By your using of the Bible in your argument, I would assume you are a religious person,
I am not.

You may however, want to examine the New Testament regarding the philosophy of Jesus with regard to treatment and judgement of others before fixating on a few verses.

There is that whole inconvenient thing about the mote in the eye vs the beam....you know, Jesus in Mathew Chapter 7 the sermon on the mount.......

I doubt very much that you are concerned about that 20 year life reduction thing if true........

I, by the way am no liberal...

You sound like a liberal.

Philosophy of (the liberal meek and lowly) Jesus?

Sounds like you have been listening to mega church liberals, neurotic females and lesser type / passive males.

I think you have Jesus confused with Gandhi - Jesus will rule with a rod of iron when he returns, crush his enemies. This is why the Jews where confused in the first coming and rejected him, but this time Jesus will bring the rod of iron.

Look for a repeat of Sodom and Gomorrah or the Battle of Jericho, zero survivors.

Well then, I see see that like many folks, you have created God in your own image.....

The historical Jesus was hardly meek, read up on his actions in the historical temple re the money changers.
I would guess though that the historical Jesus also had a low tolerance for hypocrites....

Whatever works for you, as I said I am not religious....
I don't watch or attend anything to do with religion but my father was a Baptist minister...very hard core by the way.
As he got older he started to mellow his hard core views as he read more of the New Testament......I thought the sermon on the mount reference might have been helpful for you but, guess not.
