Again, these aren't people I'm referring to. You're claiming people who are unwilling to seek coverage. These aren't people I'm referring to. There are people out there who cannot receive coverage or do not have access to adequate medical care. Do you not realize there are people who have been dropped from their insurance companies and can't find another? Do you realize some of these people include children?

Yes, what a downturn stopping a depression was. There's a reason we only ha a recession and not a depression. Maybe you could look that up?

You said, "That fella in Kuwait is one lucky guy." I said, "I sure hope so" (meaning, I hope he is lucky) and then replied "I know I am." (Because I know for damn sure that I am definitely lucky). I know what you're referring to and I'm letting you know that trust me, out of the two of us, I'm the lucky one. Geez. When you have to explain everything to people...

There are people who take advantage of the system. And then there are a lot of people who don't and legitimately need help. I support those people. I find it to be my civic and moral duty to do so. I'm not so judgmental as to look down my nose at people who have made a wrong turn here and there. I'm not going to look down my nose at people who have disabilities, disadvantages or are late starters. I was raised better than that.

Oh, so you only help your own...and not the stranger in your midst?
That's a collectivist sin of epic proportion.
If my help was ever needed and I could do it, I would. I regularly give to charities, I've helped organize dinners to help people pay for their medical bills. There's a lot of things I've done to help others. Charity is something I was raised with and is a large part of my life, so no, I don't just help my own. But if you're asking who in this very moment I am volunteering my money to? It would be these two people - one who's dying and can't take care of herself and the other who is too sick to take care of herself or her mother. If that's okay with you.(That's sarcasm - I don't really care if it's okay with you.)

<quoted text>
No, my morality and compassion tells me to DO something to help my neighbors, not sit around belly-aching that someone else (or everyone else in your case) should pay for it. We have sheltered literally dozens of people for varying amounts of time over the years (mostly children and abused women) when they needed help. Never asked for (or demanded, as your kind seem to do) a dime of other peoples' money... EVER! So stick that up your ass and spin on it!
I suppose if you have a doctor and you're honest with your doctor, it would be in your medical records that you're a smoker. If you want to risk insurance fraud, so be it. Many companies that work this way also offer lower rates if you agree to a smoking cessation program.

So what? You put some people in your house. What have you done for them in the long-term? Have you helped them receive an education? Have you helped them pay for childcare while they work or educate themselves? How much have you really given of yourself that has taken you out of your comfort zone? You bitch and complain about the so-called dregs of society but you don't want to give anything of yourself to make it better for these people. I'm not talking about a couch and a meal, I'm talking about making sure these people have what it takes to succeed in the long run. The end of your paragraph makes me doubt your credibility...people who get overly irate at strangers usually have something to prove.

Here it comes.........

President Obama took office in the first quarter of 2009, when median household income was $54,797.63.

As of the last quarter of 2011,

median household income was $52,377.21.

This was the interval Mr. Zandi suggested using to check Mr. Romney’s statement,

and it shows an income drop of $2,420.42.

That’s not $3,000, of course, but it’s still pretty bad.

One could also reasonably argue that it might be more appropriate to use the quarter before Mr. Obama took office as the baseline,

rather than the quarter in which he was sworn in. In the fourth quarter of 2008, median household income was about $55,380.17.

Starting from that quarter gives us a decline of $3,002.96,

almost exactly the number Mr. Romney cited.

Oh please, the analogy was a good one....too bad you couldn't follow. In other words,, when we give amnesty to all these law breakers, we are going to become a different country that will be run by moochers who will serve the liberal elite. The hardworking will become slaves to the govt and moochers who will continue to take from their paychecks. The Native Americans were too kind hearted and naive. They should have sent them back when they had the chance. Unfortunately, they thought they could benefit economically and socially by allowing them in. They were too fragmented because if they stood together, they would have kept their conquerors out.
