I expect to see increasing emphasis on the broad question of how we move kids from high school to college, and then work to see that they can succeed. Certainly a lot needs to be done at the high school level, but it also looks like some colleges have identified the low-hanging fruit, which includes the top acheivers from low-income families.

Setting aside the controversial elements such as equity (ironic that that should be controversial, no?), we have a desperate need to increase our population-levels of college-going and ccllege-completion. Or else figure out how we can compete with third world countries for low-skill, low-education jobs.

It's a moot question to say we must get more kids in college. Properly understood....we need less kids going to college and more that are willing to actually WORK or what used to pass for work. Cheelron graduating from college in the progressive era have been moving back home and dodging the massive loans created. Some still holding on to the dream are slogging through grad school understanding that it takes a masters to equal what used to be a bachelors in the eye's of employers. The millenials obviously still don't know what hit them. The country as a whole has not reached the same number of employed in 2008 AND we have many more of age and employable.
What we need is a education system based on "achievement" instead of lowering the bar. And if you think we haven't lowered the bar you haven't spoken or corresponded with any millenials, "the ripe fruit of progressive education".

Poverty= Get screwed over by playing by the so called "rules" st by the power elites in business and government
Opportunity= Be Macchiavellian believe in the ends justifying the means and dont put up with those that get in your way. Be the manipulator instead of the manipulatee. Regardless of gender or race you will get there!.
