Mr. Schultz is right to say Toys R Us should not sell this Dexter toy. It should not be sold in any store. It should not even be made. Like the nuclear bomb, it will prove to be more trouble than its worth. We will need international treaties about the toy. Humans are just too violent already and the people who have hitherto hidden tendencies for violence will require much effort to avoid violence and a few people will fail in that effort. It only takes a small percentage of violent people to cause mayhem.l

Work with me here for a minute. I'm sure you know more than me about action figures and such but let's take a quick inventory of a couple of things that have stocked Toys R Us shelves in days past...one or both of which you probably own:

1. The Emperor from Star Wars trilogies - He was a pretty deranged character, killed a bunch of Jedi. Maybe no literal blood on his hands but still...

2. Freddy friggin Krueger - You want a bloody serial killer? Here he is, and I do remember seeing him in toy stores back in the day

And I'm sure I could go on but let's just go ahead and add your Dexter action figure to the list and what you see is they have much in common in that they are fictional characters that kill and are featured in a store where this is not new. Let it go, kids probably aren't the key demographic for chain toy stores anyway. They exist for nerds like us!

Here is some advice Jim. Take a few million of your dollars and build a store of your own. Then you can sell what you want and to heck with what yiour customers might or might not want.

"I've seen the Toys R Us commercials, I didn't see a 30-something-year-old guy dancing around with the kids and the giraffe," Schultz said.

Jim, the story doesn't mention your age. But it does refer to you as a "man" so I will assume that you are at least 18. According to your logic above, company commercials do not show adults, and therefore Toy R Us should not have adult toys. I'm going to extend that logic and say that since company commercials do not show adults, adults (you) should not be in Toys R Us. Problem solved.

Is that sarcasm? I can't tell. But I do know that the number of people killed in wars has dropped dramatically since the advent of nuclear weapons and that these weapons have in all likelihood prevented large scale war since WWII. Imagine life without nukes. World War III would have started decades ago in a battle between Democracy and Communism. Without nukes, you might not be alive today.

i went to toys r us last Halloween to find a cowboy gun for my grandson's costume - the manager told me they did not carry guns like that - they did not feel it was politically correct - it must be PC though to promote a serial killer

Honestly I dont understand why this man is upset. Nobody complains about Jason, Freddy, or chuckie. I mean there are even real chucky dolls that people own. I dont hear or read about anyone complaining about them. So honestly what is the difference. This is 2010 things change. I mean we have 12 and 13 yr olds carring guns, so really what is the difference. At least this is just a toy. Its honestly not like its teaching ppl how to go and kill other ppl step by step. Give toys r us a break they are just goin with the times. I have a 12 yr old son and if he wanted this then I would see no probem getting it for him. Then again I am a parent who is open minded.
