Responses, many angry, flood Ohio St after remarks

Jul 31, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: KLKN

All were among dozens of people who wrote angry letters and emails to Ohio State University earlier this year over remarks former president Gordon Gee made jabbing Catholics, Notre Dame and Southeastern Conference schools, records show.

If what is reported here in the referenced story is true and compete and accurate, I think what he said was rather tame, and true, and really innocuous.

Moreover, the article says that the positive emails and comments outnumbered the negative ones by 10 to 1 !

What caused all the uproar?

'... He jokingly said the school's priests were "holy on Sunday and they're holy hell on the rest of the week," and said, to laughter, "you just can't trust those damn Catholics." '

That's an OLD one about christendom in general.

I concur.

Jesus of Nazareth probably said pretty much the same thing about the religious leaders of his time, while he was hanging with his buddies at the bar slammin down some cold brewskies.

Are you willing to say that about public school teachers?

Do they hide their offenders from scrutiny, protect them from criminal investigation, and shuffle them to other locations where they can offend again?

There are, no doubt, molesters and abusers in any group. But only the RCC is guilty of such grevious behavior like protecting these criminals, and transferring money into sheltered accounts to keep it out of the hands of victims.

Funny you mention that:

Stephen Rooney, a teacher and administrator at Foshay Learning Center, was transferred to another school even though it was discovered that he was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student. He was eventually charged and sentenced to eight years in prison for molesting three teenage girls and a minor, including the student at Foshay, in 2008.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/01...

Carrillo said another group of parents tried to lodge a complaint against Pimentel the following year with a board supervisor, but were also rebuffed.“They minimize the complaints against kids,” he said.“That is the pattern and practice of the school district."
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/01...

The lawyer for the mother of a girl who was allegedly abused by a Miramonte Elementary School teacher announced Friday the family has filed a claim in court against the teacher and the school district, alleging “a massive cover-up” that allowed abusive behavior for two decades.

Attorney Brian Claypool accused Miramonte teachers of escorting young female students to the empty classroom of Mark Henry Berndt afterschool so he could “carry out all of his sordid activities on these kids.”

Good detective work. Hope they throw the book at 'em. Still, looks like the occasional school or school district has a LOT of catching up to do, to rival the offenses of the RCC, which authorizes its crimes throughout its heirarchy, from the highest levels. Not that I'd WANT anyone to try to catch up to that.

I'm betting that schools around the world have the same issues, including coverups. They're tougher to expose because they enjoy protection from some powerful groups...politicians covering themselves, unions protecting their members and the media which is loathe to dish dirt on a "progressive" institution like a public school system.

Wouldn't it be nice if an institution that claims a direct line to God would place upon itself a higher standard of conduct that a public, secular, institution?

Speaking of obsession, have you looked at your name? I bet Barry Bathhouse approves of that.

That was quite a display you put on with SL...I believe the word was "skank." The University of Phoenix is bursting its buttons over that, little girl. You've done them proud.
