It is absolutely heartbreaking to read a story like this. Instead of everyone getting up at arms over this incident, I hope that they can offer their condolences to the family and act as humans instead of what we are used to seeing. Godspeed little one!

this is sad, What I want to know was the child in a car seat strapped? I think not because she would of not of been thrown out of the SUV if she was in a car seat. So if she was not then it is the parents fault for her safety becuase they should of made sure she was in a car seat strapped.

Wow. This is why people should use car seats for their children. My heart goes out to the family.

Children should always be strapped in a car seat.
I can't imagine what her parents must be feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you tonight and the difficut days that lie ahead.

This little one is wrapped in the arms of the angels and is safe

To all those commenting about a carseat, you were not there. My daughter knew exactly how to unbuckle her seat at the age of two as we were in a constant battle for her to stay strapped. Accidents happen, mistakes happen and unless you were there, you are clueless to the possible causes of this tragedy.

This child could have been thrown from her car seat. People need to stop with the blame. My niece was involved in a very serious car accident and she was thrown from her car seat. Have a heart and pray for this grieving family. I can't even imagine their pain. God Bless you!

i just drove past this and knew something was up besides a regular car crash.. 4 police.. area is taped off... crash investigators are out measuring and of course, channel 10 is there! so sad. the cars are still there and in place. car that hit the suv looks like a little chevy 2 or 4 door car with it's front bumper off and in the middle of the road. cars fly up and down maple canyon all the time.. hope that wasn't the case with this one. prayers to all involved including the first responders..

First of all I am NOT clueless. You said your daughter knew how to unbuckle her seatbelt, well, you should teach her not to unbuckle it, by saying "don't do it, mommy will when we get to where we are going." My nefew is 3 and all his life he made sure he knew not to unbuckle his seatbelt until someone helps him when we got somewhere. I know I was not at this scene, but until we know if she was even in a carseat, don't just the rest of us either. I was not judging I was just wondering that is all.

Folks - How about we pay our respects and zip it on the soap box chatter. A blameless child has died, give your prayers to the family.

I am all for the parents being charged in this case. If child had been properly secured in car seat to the vehicle she would be alive like rest of family. Hard to charge at fault driver with baby's death when parents were negligent

I feel sad for this little girl. She is in Gods hands now. As for the if, the child was secure in the car seat, she would be alive now. Bull crap, you never know when the car seat will come loose in an auto accident. I feel bad for the mother and I feel nothing for the one that caused the accident. That person is just flat out at fault

You do not know me and anything I say will sound self serving. I have been a "hoovering" parent to three boys as they grew up. I would move us to an isolated island if I could.

What I have learned is every child is different. My now adult son would have never challenged my directives, my child in college would have begged but given up, my littlest one will sneak out of the belt in a heart beat. He is in a booster seat and will move his arms out, wiggle, etc. He did unbuckle once. I guess from my reaction he may not do it again, but it happened. And his personality is to challenge.

No judging; if the child was not in a seat, the parents know and are going to be their own worst judge and jury. They will imprison themselves. We do not need to do this.

As an EMT and my husband being a Paramedic we have seen our fair share of accidents. Maybe I need to go back and reread the article but I did not see where it said anything about not being in a car seat. Freak accidents happen. Children and car seats get ejected. Seat belts break and heaven forbid children DO get thrown from car seats also. Do some research before you automatically blame the parents. Maybe ask some other people with common sense. Obviously, you have never been in this situation, right?! Right...
