You may be one of the dumbest people I've ever encountered in my life.
Take note Paco. The title of the thread says nothing about the pharma industry, or mental illness.

Let's dissect your statement:
Sentence 1) Somewhat agree. Those who perp such acts often go about their acts in quite a logical fashion, although their motivations are steeped in irrational thoughts and they are most often suffering from mental illness.
Sentence 2). Meaningless.
Sentence 3) While that may not be your specific claim, you allude to it.
Sentence 4) Blatantly false, and unsupportable.

Mind reading and a dismissal of the facts.

So what? She was crying about the leftist angle. Then she demanded a list, which was already posted. Then she brought up mental illness.

I dislike hunting. To each his own, but it's not my sport.
We have firearms because:
1) We believe in self defense.
2) We target shoot.
3) It's our Constitutional right as free citizens of the United States of America.

I know that absolutely infuriates you.

Read. He did provide evidence to the leftist theory.

Not sure I agree with it, but no coherent argument against it.

Are guns and schools the only factors?
No self-protection angle in your argument at all?
Get a ball bat. Are you expecting a war here soon? Yes I thought that was the subject. Do you live in a high crime area? Maybe a bullet proof vest would suit you. Some people are just too extreme w/ their fears. How many guns do you have? One is enough. I don't have any, and I don't worry about it.

I have no problem with background checks and legally purchasing guns. What's your point? I don't believe there is any conflict with background checks and my stance against what you seem to be proposing with gun control...
You also realize, that medical background checks are NOT a part of the gun background check, right? And the overwhelming majority of those afflicted with a mental health issue are NOT violent, right?
Expound.
Maybe they should do background checks that include the mental health reporting those people that do have violent tendencies. Or would you rather nothing at all be done? This boy threatened his teacher and had been expelled for 2 wks in Sept.. I don't understand how he was back in that school. I posted it earlier. When you threaten someone's life you can be arrested. This was someone's responsibility, the school or the parent. Sounds like it was ignored.

Funnily enough, I don't own a gun. But I do have a tire iron under the seat of my car. For good cause.

Crime happens everywhere...have you understood that the 2nd Amendment does apply to private individuals? They DON'T need a reason to own. It's up to the government to PROVE they should not have it via background checks.

Have you ever heard of HIPAA? THAT'S why. The rules would need to be changed.

I don't understand why he was back in school, either. But I know this: he was barely 18 years old. Do you think THAT might have been part of the reason no one could have predicted this? He was a MINOR until shortly before all this happened, and he really had no public criminal record as far as I know. If there was anything, it could have been minor misdemeanors that were closed due to his age...

Think. How would more restrictive guns really have worked in this situation? I don't think they would have.

It doesn't infuriate me, I am just curious about how people think and why. I'm a Virgo and very analytic. With your fear of blacks I bet your target is black, and of course the Constitutional rights BS has to come in the conversation. I think that is a bunch of Bull used as an excuse for all the noids. More guns more killing. Did we not already go through the period of the WILD WILD WEST.

Blacks like you make my point. You're ignorant, uneducated and angry. We don't own firearms out of fear...they're insurance. and notice I said WE...my wife is very proficient in their use. Both of our kids can handle them safely and effectively as well.
The fact that you call Constitutional rights, "BS," tells us all we need to know about what a sorry excuse for an American you are. What say we take away some of YOUR rights and see how you like it, fake OU mammy?
You're also incredibly ignorant of history,,,you've "learned" it from too much TV. There was no "Wild West." The idea of shootouts as a regular occurrence in the post-Civil War era in the West is a myth.

Again, the abject stupidity.
Ball bats don't protect against firearms.
Any area is subject to random crime.
Ballistic vests are illegal for the general public to own.
How any guns anyone owns is none of your business.

That's not evidence.

It is a collection of anecdotes. It requires no opposing argument, because it is utter foolishness.

This isn't a court of law where we have specific rules regarding evidence...this is a discussion forum...

But did you actually read what George provided? Pierson's Facebook page reflected what he was thinking. I don't think a person's ideas, in writing, constitute utter foolishness as evidence of whether he was a leftist. At minimum, he seemed to have held some very strong political beliefs, one of which, ironically was for tighter gun control. Also had had made some strong anti-Adam Smith comments and publicly stated he hated Republicans. A bit unusual, wouldn't you say, for a 17 or 18 year old kid?

I'll pose the question this way:

Which do you think was more of a factor in his decision to buy a shotgun, make molotav cocktails, and carry those and a machete to his school intending to murder his debate coach?

A) His interest in socialism and/or communisim
B) Mental illness/instability

Those are not separate choices. To be a socialist / communist one has to be mentally ill.

Probably the mental illness issue. JMHO, I don't think he knew how to cope with anger very well. Just a hint, he got kicked off his debate team...and his parents I had read were undergoing a divorce. Something else had to be going on underneath the surface we don't know about.

This should answer George's post as well. I don't know why he would have been bullied. Being a debate team member indicates to me a kid who has a pretty healthy sense of self and can express himself extemporaneously pretty well and would have been well accepted. But hey, I didn't know the kid. I just raised 4 teens. I knew a couple of kids who were well accepted, in band or debate or played sports and committed suicide who were classmates of my kids. Come to find out they either felt they were failures, were teased by a small select group of kids and kept mum about it. Appearances often mean little.

So, it sounds like we agree, but I am willing to call George's premise that the shooter's interest in communism/socialism had any bearing on his action pure unadulterated "BS", and you are not.

Ok.
