Any scrap dealer who doesn't check ID and document who he deals with is a crook, same as the thief he bought from. We recycle our cans and I have always been asked for ID.

The issue started with the black market in copper wire. Not sure if this is even relevant any longer since metal market kinda tanked a few years ago, but seems as if there are cases of black market metal going overseas. Why it's hitting Ohio hard, no clue.

You need an ID to scrap but not to vote? Not fair to the democrats!

Not fair? What is not fair is a State department called "public safety" those goons especially the Ohio State Highway Patrol are just thieves and rapists collecting taxes at gun point.

a data base might help honest dealers work with police. Simply looking at an id does no good if you don't know what evidence to look for before you scrap and destroy it. Even somebody with an id and a title to a wrecked car could be having a dealer scrap evidence to a crime scene with out them really having a way to cross check it with police.

most people are getting pretty uncomfortable with the "standing army" these days.

True, its always after the fact. The crooks have already spent the money and stuck the dealers with the contraband after the owner has reported it stolen.
