You side with things that over illustrate the values they wanted instilled versus what was happening in real life. Due to my career choices I've been all around the country and in several parts of the world. The life you claim was a reality was never such. Sure there was probably a Ward Cleaver in every community but there was also a Keith Richards, no matter what decade or century it was.
Sodomy, homosexuality, adultery, substance abuse, fornication etc... were all dealt with in the bible, they're hardly new concepts. Are you suggesting that suddenly in the late 50's in America there were no participants in vices?
Right about the time of the Cleavers, the Mafia was a huge factor, why didn't that ever come up on the show? The Untouchables dealt with it.
