You are quite mistaken. He was fired for repeated insubordination, the basis of which was the repeated insertion of his own religious beliefs into the science curriculum that he was directed to teach his students, contrary to board policy. He did it numerous times, despite being warned in writing numerous times not to do so.
He got exactly what he deserved, and his idiocy cost the taxpayers in the MVSD well over a million dollars.
Refusal to remove his personal bible from his desk and having posters of people praying to whomever. I believe Bush and Powell were mentioned though not sure I would suspect both are Christians but of different denominations which may carry a different belief structure even from that of the teacher.
I did read where the teacher was inserting is religious beliefs into the curriculum or standing before his class(es) and proclaiming a certain religious doctrine.
