to those of you who say yes. Think! Can you or I vote in Canada or mexico? I think it fair, right. Australia just made a new law, but I did not get to express my vote. Think about and how absurd it sounds.

The process is this:

Let the non citizens vote
Then they will claim "oh they are paying taxes and already voting locally so why not let them vote in state and federal elections?"

Then a state like mexifornia will allow legal immigrants to vote which means without proper ID voting laws illegals will also vote in state elections.

Then there will be other leftist states that allow immigrants to vote. Which again without voter ID laws means illegals will vote.

Then will come the push for national elections and letting immigrants vote. Again without proper voter ID laws and lax laws like the Colorado law allowing folks to register to vote on Election Day then illegals will vote.

I've said it before if illegals didn't vote for democrats then this issue would have been all over the news and fixed by now, but since illegals and Hispanics vote for democrats they must protect their ability to vote even if they are illegal.

yes tourists pay sales tax.
morons like you pay sales tax.
citizens pay federal income tax, state income tax, city income tax, property tax, social security & medicaid tax.
figures a moron would think paying sales tax equals income taxes.
I suppose walking by a house now means you own it in your fantasy illusions.
Resident non citizens pay income taxes. I can't really think of any taxes you get to skip through being a non citizen.

I'm not really understanding how people could even think that they don't pay these taxes.

I always do.

I care less about talking points.

right and wrong is all that matters to me. Disagreements occur when definitions differ.

I guess a new dictionary needs be taught to us educated prior to the Department of Education being formed.

Everyday it seems someone is re-defining words. How many versions of the English language are there?

talking points raise arguments and breed sheep.

asking questions and questions about comments from questions open dialog.

most people are closer together with political beliefs than you think. Just ask questions that are not political to probe. Talking points never solve a thing, but add fire to a flame.

I can't remember you speaking to me with talking points ever. We are mom's and dad's having general conversations together as friends. If everyone could communicate together like we do, then we could re-define the word politics to be defined.....friends.

...you do understand that legal, non-citizen residents pay taxes and remain subject to the laws?
I'm near constantly amazed at the deliberate ignorance one would have to cultivate to believe that non-citizen residents don't pay tax. And more amazed that the belief is as common as it is.
The concern here in the "colonies" is the illegal residents, who live in their own little enclaves, buy everything from their own underground black markets, never learn the language and contribute nothing to the economy.

I see. So it's people being afraid of something that has nothing to do with the proposed changes?

I still don't really understand how so many people think that non citizen residents don't pay taxes. Which seems to not just be an American thing. Less intellectually capable folks here think the same thing, which is endlessly confusing.

Non-citizen residents pay taxes on income at city, state and federal levels. If they own property they pay property tax.

I won't address social security withholding as I don't know for certain--I would imagine that they are ineligible to receive benefits and therefore do not pay in, but I don't know for certain.

There is no such thing as medicaid tax.

The IRS says "Resident aliens, in general, have the same liability for Social Security/Medicare Taxes that U.S. Citizens have."

Even more interesting, if you're a non resident alien doing some work in the US on a short contract, you're still going to wind up paying these taxes.

Being a non citizen doesn't really get you out of anything but jury duty.

They pay into SS and are eligible to receive it if they are legal residents or foreigners doing some work in the US. My Canadian grandmother got a check from SS for decades due to my Canadian grandfather's work as a railroad employee in the US (the trains crossed through Maine traveling between Québec and New Brunswick.)

It didn't even get you out of the draft. That's how two of my Canadian uncles became US citizens after being drafted out of the University of Maine and serving in Korea.

I'm not really understanding non-citizens who don't want to take the time to become citizens and feel they should be allowed to vote. If you want to become a citizen, great! That entitles you to it all.
If you just want to come here to throw your weight around, take it elsewhere.

Bingo

The big gorilla in the room that the libs won't address.

ILLEGAL ALIENS

Of course folks in the country legally pay taxes. I certainly don't have a problem with people who are in the country legally.

The vast majority of illegal day workers are paid under the table in cash.

Drive to your local Home Depot for proof.

Sales tax would be the only tax they pay.
