I never realized that you are a German right winger? That is your problem (or maybe one for the OSI if you are old enough), not mine. You still haven't provided any credible historical facts or sources you allegedly have regarding the Nazis, only blather. With your comic book comment, you certainly proved you know nothing about German history in general and can in no way talk about the German historical traditions that led to the Nazis either (there was not one fact wrong in my post regarding German history).
OK Sparky......are trees pink in your fantasy?

you never realized Nazis were sheep following evil either.

your comic book history education is quite sad.

PS: I am 50, and have been to Germany multiple times to visit ancestors who I never knew. They live there, and some were there under Hitler's rule. I heard first hand from them what they lived through.

But you the all knowing fool just can't accept fact for anything, because fantasy is your guiding path.

Maybe you need to purchase a plane ticket to Germany and learn 1st hand yourself, but that would seem way to much trouble for someone as smart as you. You can learn all you need to know from Family Guy and Wolf Blitzer on TV.

These far right wing believers have no knowledge of history and can provide no credible sources to back their views up. To compensate, they rely on the conspiracy theories churned out from talk radio fools, Jonah Goldberg, Glenn Beck (he recommended a book penned by Elizabeth Dilling, an Axis enemy agent charged with sedition in 1944 as recommended reading), the John Birch Society, and libertarian think tank funded fake histories (i.e. Thomas E. Woods). It is no wonder why they are so ignorant and why real knowledge is such an alien concept to them. They have been brainwashed.

I don't know what your relatives told you, but if you believe that Hitler was anything but part of the political far right, then you really need to study German history. I'm sure they don't remember the pograms of 1096, nor the anti Semitism used to explain German defeats at the hands of Napoleon. I gave you some links, but it is up to you to learn the truth, not the horse and pony show that accompanies every tourist trap- even psychopaths like Zhang Xian Zhong and Vlad the Impaler have been made into heroes for tourist dollars. Eyewitnesses can be very important, but they also lie when the facts become too embarrassing- Nazi Germany and the Holocaust was a bit like Germany's version of the Cultural Revolution -it was always something that somebody else participated in, but never the storytellers themselves (everyone usually says that lie).

So, Are all of those credible sources for you? Does it hit a raw nerve if they are your sources for history? You do know that Elizabeth Dilling was an Axis enemy agent charged in the Sedition Trials of 1944 right? This is basic US far right history that you should know. You can also find the videotape of Glenn Beck hawking Dilling's trashy paranoid books too.

Actually, Hitler was in keeping with a good many of German traditions like nationalistic militarism, blaming inside forces (Jews) for Germany's loss in World War I (much the same as German nationalists blamed Jews for their defeats at the hands of Napoleon, or their pograms against the Jews in 1096 prior to their role in the first Crusade),racism, anti Semitism, their appeal to the Junkers, rural Germans, German industrialists, union bashing and other characteristics of the German far right. All of these issues were firmly in keeping with the German far right and their main audience were largely conservatives there.
Their main audience were liberals with their hands out and they were not bright folks. He divided just like Big Ears and they wanted all of the free property and possessions instead of working. Of course, there were no jobs and it was supposedly the fault of the jews. Sound familiar? I know because my grandparents immigrated to the US during this time, they were very conservative and Catholic and wanted no part. By the way, they entered the US, legally!

The method of distortion by liberals has been worn out. You need to wake up and smell the coffee! Any person of, at minimum, average intelligence, can see what Barry and his so-called administration are doing to this country. Very similar to what happened in Germany!

First, I never claimed that being a German Catholic conservative would guarantee that all Germans would've loved Hitler and stayed in Germany. Germany's economic system was in shambles for much of the period after World War I and the US offered freedoms and opportunities that Nazi Germany didn't (the right to join a non state run labor union that had collective bargaining being one of those). Hitler's main base of support was from conservative German Catholics and Protestants and most of those stayed in Germany. Hitler's base consisted of the 1/3 of the German population that was generally the most right wing politically in the 1932 election, but Hitler owed his rise to power to Paul Von Hindenberg, a conservative who thought the Nazis the lesser of 3 evils after a runoff election. Contrary to your views, most Germans who supported Hitler weren't looking for handout or free property, but were happy with the jobs his regime gave them in military related industries ( industrialists also loved Hitler since he destroyed the unions). His first targets for persecution (besides Jews) were outspoken liberals, leftists, labor union leaders and the like- everyone that conservatives worldwide dislike. You also forgot that Germans blaming Jews for their problems was a well established German Christian tradition that had existed there for roughly 1000 years. You cannot blame the Enlightenment, democracy, liberalism, abolitionism, civil rights movements,(i.e. ideas more in line with Anglo American political traditions than German) or Marxism for that. One cannot blame Italian fascist forces for such views either, since most Italians were as appalled by Germany's bloodthirsty murder of Jews in the Holocaust as much of the rest of the world. It wasn't Fascism alone, but German fascism and the anti Semitism that motivated it- the roots of conservative German nationalist movements as well.
As for Germans entering the US legally at the time, that is hardly a shock since US immigration policy was racist and excluded no whites from immigrating (i.e. the Oriental Exclusion Act of 1882 and the 1924 Immigration Act were in force). German neo Nazi American Bund leader Fritz Kuhn entered the US legally as well, but a Chinese vet who fought for the Allied side would've been excluded from consideration until 1943 (even though he would've been 1 of 100 Chinese allowed annually until the 1965 immigration act lifted such racist restrictions). The only upside was that Fritz Kuhn was finally deported to Nazi land after WWII.

Hardly distortion- The paranoid conspiracy laden books of Phyllis Schlafly and Ann Coulter are the spiritual descendants of Elizabeth Dilling's works. Schlafly was even a personal fan and follower of Dilling's prewar mothers against the war movement (against US entry in World War II of course).
US similar to Germany?- Waffen SS units?, Gestapo?,Einsatzgruppen?, Police Battalions? People hauled off to death camps? That is hyperbole worthy of Alex Jones and Illuminati pamphlets!
If you were talking about measures passed by GOP governors and legislators like violating the Voting Rights Act and union bashing like destroying collective bargaining rights, then that is the fault of the GOP right wing (Hitler would have liked those- he enacted measures similar to those in Germany).

Obama youth? Obama's infiltration of colleges? Obama's going through school children to promote Obamacare? Obama's distorted view of trying to take away our right to bear arms, basically disarming? Obama referring to Catholic schools as segregated? Obama's division of so-called classes of people, black versus white, rich versus poor. His nose in with the unions which we do not need. Utilizing the IRS against conservative groups. No jobs created, only government dependence. Abuse of power by spying on US citizens as well as other countries. Plenty more. Sound familiar?

Interesting revisionism, but completely devoid of fact. Hitler attracted the majority of German professors, legal professionals, medical professionals, engineers, and industrialists to name a few groups. Most of these were affluent conservative professionals who were hardly poor or poorly educated workers looking for a handout. Josef Mengele was simply one of many of these- he had a medical degree and his professors were all too eager for him to send them "specimens" from Poland and Russia. German medical professionals like future Nazi Franz Ritter Von Epp donated similar collections of human Guinea Pigs to prominent German medical institutions thanks to the German genocide of the African Herrero tribes during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm prior to World War I. Germany's industrialized killing methods involving death camps and trains for shipping victims to those came about from the Herero War too. The Waffen SS had height requirements and wouldn't accept those who even had so much as a cavity in their early days- their ranks were drawn chiefly from the German middle and upper classes as well. You certainly couldn't blame the German poor, uneducated and unskilled for being Hitler's main source of support, that was for sure.

I never took Political Science and it wasn't my major either. My major was in history. It helps to know political history to understand the present more easily, especially since the America First movement was practically the largest anti war movement in US history ( and Elizabeth Dilling was a key player in it along with Charles Lindbergh ).

I'm pretty sure that "interpreted correctly" applies to the subject of Germany. If you've read books like "Nazi Doctors" by Lifton, "Doctors from Hell" by Spitz or "Hitler's Willing Executioners" by Goldhagen to name a few titles, you can learn an awful lot about a society that is unpleasant. There are simply things that are the truth and then there are whitewashed myths used to avoid such truths. The myths sound like strong suspects in a police interrogation vaguely admitting to knowledge of a crime, but often placing blame on somebody else. In the case of state sponsored crimes like those of Germany, the culprits leave behind documents, census records, university degrees, thesis and journal publications, and military records showing which battlefield or camps they were posted, who they interacted with etc. to learn their backgrounds. One doesn't have to rely on rumor, faith, or wishful thinking alone.

Eric,

What medication do they have you on?

How many times you traveled Europe and reviewed history first hand?

PS: just like Obama, Hitler had no smoking gun documents left behind. Minions do the work of the dictator. If you pull your head out of your butt you would see Obama minion smoking gun evidence of criminal behavior time and time again.

what a hoot it is to hear your history lesson written by someone who sold books in the fiction section.

can you earn minimum wage with a history degree?
what value does a history degree have to an employer?

I have some relatives from Greece and Italy and I've been there too. Without those, the derivative copy cat cultures of northern Europe would have had no civilization at all. Nice try. Their art and culture is far superior to Germany's too. You've proved that you are a likely MBA who slept through history (explains why you know nothing about it other than feel good myths from talk radio). You may insult my history sources, but you've provided none of your own (the sophistry/ straw man double standard).

No, I've earned degrees in history. Were I teaching again, I would've given you an F in the German history section of the Civ course (one of those LERS you slept through). I make money selling things and business is good, not as a register dog to some typically uneducated college drop out conservative boss with mental illness issues. Plenty of time for writing and research too. If I were to study the political far far right full time, I would've majored in anthropology, for its myths ( Dilling,Buchanan, Schlafly, David Duke etc.) are akin to studying malevolent, primitive and superstitious cultures. As for Hitler not leaving a paper trail, there are documents from the Wanessee conference that show his approval for the Final Solution ( like serial killers, he didn't leave a large paper trail, but his assent was still his responsibility).
