You can't be a conservative if you don't favor decentralization. Frum is a Scoop Jackson Democrat, but that wing became the neo-cons in the 1970s. Frum has supported nearly every foreign intervention.

The soldiers are doing multiple tours because they keep re-upping after four years. The contract you sign is typically four years active, four years reserve. The "stop-loss" of pushing people on the IRR back into active is mostly over.
Additionally, having people with multiple tours means a more experienced army that doesn't need to continuously retrain people as much.
Non-sense, read the article about PTSD, a human being cannot endure 3+ tours of duty let alone 5. And you still didn't serve. Paying tax is not same as serving that is what is wrong with this past generation everyone is selfish and no one wants to sacrifice for USA anymore, ever since the 60s.

Economic freedom usually leads to political freedom.
The South has more manufacturing than the Midwest, RTW > Unions.
The generals are all political appointees, they have no freedom to dissent from what Panetta orders them to do.
Why are you still living up north then? South is better huh really???

Only far right would favor decentralization. Reagan is against any type of decentralization he would never let a state take over in a single military project. Eisenhower started the federal national highway system to unite across the country, faster mobilization less regional tribalism happens in the south in the 50's. When the KKK threatened the way of life in the south federal sent army and national guard to maintain order. Federal power > State power.

In WWII, people fought all the way from Pearl Harbor to the end.

Paying taxes is what funds the wars.

Which is deliberately against what the Framers intended.

Reagan devolved power back to the states.

Not necessarily, we won the 2 wars in Iraq and Afghanistan neither was paid for. Sometimes it's best to just write a check and enlist. Serving in a real combat duty is far more noble than paying a few hundred dollars a year. I have friends that not only pay tax but join the Marine Corps they have to be better than the average Joe's who just happy to pay.

Don't compare WWII generation to your baby boomer generation. They won wars like we did and they never complain about the government or call FDR as a socialist.

I love Ronald Reagan, when the economy was bad he ran up the deficit and borrowed from Japan and we were booming ever since. Another example of deficit doesn't matter.

If you are in the .mil you are not a net tax contributor.

The wars were paid for with debt, that debt comes due eventually, only way to pay it off is dismantling every entitlement in the book.

The WWII generation is mostly gone, their failure was in not dismantling the New Deal and allowing the great society.

Perhaps WWII suffered PTSD too like the baby boomers in Vietnam and lost the war.

Tax is tax, unless you are billionaire you pay as much as anyone else.

No member of my family has lived in the South in five generations.

Big 3 = UAW fail

RTW South = new auto plants, new Boeing plant, new Airbus plant
