Remember this when spending your Christmas dollars this year:

Kroger, Walmart and The Andersons allows Salvation Army bell-ringers at their stores.

Giant Eagle, Target and Meijer do not.

Target Corporation informed the Salvation Army in January 2004 that it would no longer allow the charity's traditional bell ringers to collect donations in front of its stores during the Christmas season.

Update: As of 2011, Target Corporation continues to enforce its no solicitation policy at all locations.

Update: Giant Eagle stores in Cleveland and Pittsburgh do allow the bell ringers. Still don't see them around here.

Most people don't have compassion to care. They just want the best deals.

There was a S.A. bell ringer in front of Easton Mall late this morning. Wonder which one will get the gold coin that at least one of them gets every year?

I take this reminder from you as a warning to not get stiffed twice. One from the Salvation Army in the first place, and two...from a "fake" Salvation Army leech.
Bob, I bet you're not giving one red cent to anyone ringing a bell, gong, triangle, chime or phone.

Actually, you are half-correct. I take my stuff to the Salvation Army, however when donating.

Go spend all your cookie money at WalMart fool and soon you'll be begging outside one of their stores.

That's a lil more than half-correct. Finding a free dump site benifits.
Since you mentioned...I remember years ago, my mom gave the Salvation Army a basketball jersey of mine, which was from a team i played for at the rec center('82?), and i seen a neighborhood kid wearing it months later....with MY NAME on the back.

That might have been Charity Newsies though. The ghetto fashion crack of that era.

LOL - Wrong! Simply wrong! LOL

Since all the weenies started hating on the Salvation Army, I made it a point to go out of my way to support them (kind of, it's on my way to work). I pretty much donate everything I'm getting rid of to them.

I like how their CEO makes only $200k a year. Chump change in today's economy.

I also like how they take the dregs of society that nobody else wants and try to make something of them. What doesn't come out here between all the ranting, and what you probably will have trouble believing, is that I also have this fondness for stray mutts of the world. I like that SA is willing to take them in ... and some of those people at the donation center ... well, LOL.

I also support them because all the gay lovers are trying to force a Christian organization to accept practicing gays, and they have an old school Methodist foundation and won't do that.

The SA has a lot of success stories following a biblical approach to things. It's not for everyone, but for the people who buy into it, it seems to help.

Tag decided to stop posting, obviously would drop in now and again on the forum. We would PM each other regularly up to about a month or so ago. I do know the last PM he sent me, he had some major crap going on. He didn't get into specifics, but his words reflected his frustration. If I hear from him, I'll let you know. BTW-I love the person that judged me spam not even knowing what we are talking about. The thread is about a Christmas reminder and remembering those that were dear to us deserve a post. Don't ya think?

I did drop some money in the SA pot yesterday, but only after being sure the same guy had been there for three days in a row. @Enzyte Bob, its cool how you donate. If you were to see that hardly anyone donates clothing anymore you'd be disgusted. Every county/city now has an online yard sale site, where everyone is trying to sell their castoffs instead of donating them to a good cause.
